Ireland Names New Captain, Vice-captain for Women's Team

Cricket Ireland is trying to figure out a better future for Ireland’s women’s cricket. In order to do that, they have recently made some big changes in the squad and a new Captain and Vice-captain have been named for future tournaments.
Gaby Lewis has been named as the new permanent skipper for the team and she is all set to replace Laura Delany. She will have Orla Prendergast as her deputy in future matches.

Laura Delany was the permanent captain who took charge in 2016 and led the team in 125 matches. The 31-year-old will be replaced by a much younger and dynamic player from Ireland.
Who is Gaby Lewis?
The new Irish skipper made her debut for the team in the T20 format against South Africa in September 2014. At the age of 13, she became a part of the senior side and in 10 years of her career, Gaby has matured as a player in the white-ball cricket.
Born in Dublin, Gaby comes from a family of cricketers. Her father Alan Lewis, and grandfather, Ian Lewis played for Ireland Cricket Team and were members of the YMCA Cricket Club.
Gaby is a crucial member of Ireland’s Women's cricket team as an all-rounder. She is an efficient lower-order batter and a spin bowler who carries the ability to win matches for the team.
