KKR’s Auction Masterplan: 5 All-Rounders Who Could Redefine Their 2026 Season

As KKR enter the 2026 mega auction, their all-rounder strategy becomes the backbone of their campaign. With Russell retired and Maxwell unavailable, the franchise must rebuild its engine room with smart, high-value picks. Based on squad needs and ipl predictions, KKR’s focus will be on versatility, power hitting and matchup-friendly bowling to restore perfect team balance.
1. Cameron Green
The closest they’ll get to a Russell Successor, Cameron Green walks into this auction as the only realistic high-impact replacement for Russell. With 707 IPL runs at a strike rate of 153.70, plus a century and two fifties, he already has the profile of a top-order enforcer who can bat in multiple roles. While he’s not the same destructive death-overs bowler, he still offers 16 IPL wickets, including a strong 2024 season (10 wickets at 8.62 economy).
Green’s value lies in flexibility, he can bat anywhere from 1 to 6, accelerate on demand, and chip in with overs when matchups favour him. KKR won’t get Russell 2.0, but they will get a stabilizing, dependable, high quality all-rounder who changes the team’s balance immediately.
2. Venkatesh Iyer
A familiar and budget friendly boost who still fits KKR perfectly. Venkatesh Iyer was picked for a massive INR 23.75 crore last season, but his performances did not fully justify that price, which means he could be available for much cheaper this time. Across the last three years he has produced 142 runs in 2025, 370 in 2024 and 404 in 2023, showing flashes of impact along with inconsistency.
His overall IPL record stands at 1468 runs, 12 fifties and a highest of 104. He has barely bowled recently, but his earlier seasons proved he can chip in with part time overs when required. For KKR, the real value lies in getting a left hander who strengthens their top and middle order structure, plays spin confidently and frees up the purse for bigger overseas buys. At a reduced price, he becomes a smart and strategic acquisition.
3. Jason Holder
Experience and utility that fit Eden Gardens more than people realise. Jason Holder’s IPL numbers may not be flashy, but they are far more meaningful when viewed correctly. His career includes 189 runs at a strike rate above 120 and 35 wickets with an economy of 8.20. His best period came in 2020 and 2021 where he took 30 wickets with excellent strike rates around 12. Holder remains active in global T20 leagues, which keeps his rhythm sharp.
He brings leadership, matchup based bowling and handy lower order hitting. On Eden’s two paced surfaces his hard lengths, cutters and bounce become an important weapon. He is not a Russell style power hitter, but he strengthens the overall structure of the team and fills multiple gaps KKR will definitely feel through the season.
4. Liam Livingstone
The explosive middle order hitter who also gives KKR dual spin. Liam Livingstone brings the exact mix of power and versatility KKR need. He has 1051 IPL runs at an average of 26.28 and a strike rate around 160, along with 7 fifties, 70 fours and 75 sixes. His standout seasons came in 2022 and 2023, where he consistently dominated spin and pace with fearless hitting.
With the ball he offers both off spin and leg spin, taking 13 wickets with a best of 3/27, which instantly makes him a perfect replacement for Moeen Ali. Livingstone also becomes a strong tactical partner for Sunil Narine, giving KKR another matchup spinner who can attack both right handers and left handers. In the middle order he is a pure game breaker, and his all round skillset fits KKR’s style better than almost anyone else in this auction.
5. Sikandar Raza
A smart and underrated option who fits the Ali style role perfectly. Sikandar Raza may have only played 9 IPL matches, but his impact and skillset are exactly what KKR need. He has 182 IPL runs at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 135 with a crucial fifty in 2023.
His bowling numbers show 3 wickets and a best of 1/19, but those figures do not capture his actual value in the middle overs. Raza controls the tempo, understands matchups well and brings immense experience from leagues across the world. He offers steady batting in the middle order and useful spin that keeps pressure on both right handers and left handers. For his likely price, he could be one of the most efficient signings KKR make.
With Russell retiring from the IPL and Maxwell opting out, KKR head into the 2026 auction with a rare vacuum in their all rounder department. Green brings star power, Venky provides domestic value, Holder offers structure, Livingstone adds genuine X factor and Raza contributes sharp tactical intelligence. The all rounder pool is limited this year, but if KKR manage to secure even two of these names, their overall balance immediately improves and they move straight back into serious playoff contention.
