In a new turn of events in Pakistan Cricket, Babar Azam has recently come out and resigned from the white-ball captaincy. After a disappointing performance at the ODI World Cup 2023, Babar Azam was removed from the duties of captaincy. However, after 3 months, the team management appointed him again as the team’s white-ball captain.
The 29-year-old was appointed as the team captain in 2019 and after 5 years of his journey as the leader of men in green has come to an end. Babar’s 2nd stint as the captain was not good at all. Pakistan were eliminated early in the T20 World Cup 2024.
During the T20 World Cup, Pakistan faced losses against the USA and arch-rivals India and couldn't bounce back in the tournament. Pakistan is now scheduled to host England for a 3-match Test series and the betting apps in India have the best odds for the series.
"Dear Fans, I'm sharing some news with you today. I have decided to resign as captain of the Pakistan men's cricket team, effective as of my notification to the PCB and Team Management last month.," Babar wrote and announced his resignation at X.
"It's been an honour to lead this team, but it's time for me to step down and focus on my playing role. Captaincy has been a rewarding experience, but it's added a significant workload. I want to prioritise my performance, enjoy my batting, and spend quality time with my family, which brings me joy."
"By stepping down, I will gain clarity moving forward and focus more energy on my game and personal growth. I'm grateful for your unwavering support and belief in me. Your enthusiasm has meant the world to me. I'm proud of what we've achieved together and excited to continue contributing to the team as a player. Thank you for your love and support."

Babar Azam is the 2nd most successful captain of Pakistan Cricket. He led Pakistan in a total of 148 fixtures and won 84 matches.
The resignation of Babar Azam won’t impact anything in the red-ball cricket. Shan Masood was already leading the team and PCB will be looking for a successor for Babar in the white-ball cricket.
