After the IPL 2025 mega auction, a lot has changed in every squad of IPL. One of the biggest changes that has taken place is the exchange of KL Rahul from Lucknow Super Giants with Rishabh Pant from Delhi Capitals.
Delhi Capitals failed to retain Rishabh Pant and Lucknow Super Giants saw the opportunity to buy India’s star wicket-keeper batsman. Similarly, KL Rahul was released by Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals saw the opportunity to fill the void created by the release of Pant for IPL 2025.
Lucknow Super Giants recently announced that Rishabh Pant will be the leading man for the team in IPL 2025. However, Delhi Capitals are yet to announce their leader and speculations are coming down to some heavyweights who are experienced in doing the job.
In the last 2 years, Delhi Capitals have failed to qualify for the playoffs. In 2023, they were under the leadership of David Warner but the franchise witnessed a horrible finish at the league stage. In 2024, their regular skipper Rishabh Pant made a return to the team but the Capitals still failed to make an impact.
As the new season of the Indian Premier League comes closer and the legal IPL betting apps in India prepare for a new IPL betting season, we have come up with some big names that might lead the team in IPL 2025.
1) KL Rahul
On the charts of “Who can captain Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025?” tops the former Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul. He carries an immense amount of leading in IPL and on international occasions. KL Rahul’s credentials are solid and his win percentage as a skipper stands at 48.43. India’s stylish batter helped Lucknow Super Giants to reach the playoffs twice consecutively and that is proof that he totally deserves the leadership position.

2) Faf du Plessis
Another contender for Delhi Capitals captaincy will be former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis. The Proteas player has always been in the spotlight because of his aggressive batting in the T20 cricket leagues across the globe. However, the notable factor is that he carries a win percentage of 50% in IPL. With RCB, Faf has captained the team in 42 fixtures and has recorded 21 wins and that makes him special for Delhi Capitals.

3) Axar Patel
India’s ace spinner and Delhi Capitals’ key bowler Axar Patel also makes it to the list. He is an experienced player and a trustworthy individual in the Delhi Capitals squad. Over the years, Axar Patel has earned the trust of his teammates and the management by performing consistently for the team. There is not even a single season of IPL where Axar Patel has not troubled the batters of different teams. The only problem with Axar is that he has no experience of leading a team and hence things might go off the track.
