Rashid Khan Will be Unavailable for Test cricket Until November 2024
Afghanistan Cricket Team has received a big blow as their star player Rashid Khan won't be playing Test cricket till November 2024. He is currently recovering from a back operation.
Afghan Cricket Board have an update on his health after consulting with the Physian. Rashid Khan was last seen playing against South Africa in June and since then he has been absent from international cricket and from the T20 cricket leagues.
The absence of Rashid Khan will hurt the team in many ways. He is Afghanistan's primary spinner and a middle-order batsman who has come out as the match-winner for the team on multiple occasions.
Afghanistan Cricket Team has witnessed a rise in the quality of cricket on the international stage and Rashid has been the key player for the team. He also led the team in the T20 World Cup 2024 and took the team to their first-ever World Cup semi-final.
Rashid Khan Will be Absent for Noida Test Against New Zealand
Afghanistan will play a one-off Test against New Zealand in Noida at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground. The fixture is scheduled to take place on September 9th. Afghanistan has not announced their squad as of now but it is confirmed that Rahid won't be part of the fixture.
The decision was taken after consulting with doctors as Rashid went through a back operation last year. The Doctors have recommended that Rashid should stay away from the long format of cricket and make a proper recovery.
In his absence, Afghanistan Cricket will be trying out some different options in the all-rounder segment for the red-ball format. New Zealand carriers have the upper hand as of now and they are the favourites to win the Test match on all the online betting apps.
Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Naseeb Khan has confirmed the news but he has also assured that Rashid's health is better.
"Following Rashid Khan's back operation last year, his doctors advised him to refrain from participating in long-format cricket, which is Test cricket, for one year," Naseeb Khan told Cricbuzz.
Naseeb Khan also confirmed that Rashid will be available for the 2-match Test series in December against Zimbabwe. He is also expected to be part of the 3-match ODI series against South Africa in the UAE in September.
