Royal Challengers Bangalore Review

The rain had shortened the T20 game to 5 overs-a-side and the toss didn’t go in RCB’s favor. Kohli included Negi and Khejroliya in the playing XI in places of Shivam Dube and Sundar.

RCB launched their best weapons right at the start and AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli opened the batting. Kohli smashed the first ball off Aaron over long-off for a six. In the second delivery, Kohli's outside edge led the ball over the third man for another six. With 2 boundaries from de Villiers, RCB reached 23 in just 6 balls. Kohli hit Gopal for another sixer, followed by a boundary. The first wicket partnership of 35 runs was terminated by Gopal as Kohli got out trying to go for a big one. Before RCB could blink, de Villiers and Stoinis returned to the dug-out as Gopal struck in the next two deliveries too. RCB scored first 35 runs in 9 balls and next 27 in 21. They could manage just 8 runs in the last over and the final score was 62 for 7.

Umesh Yadav started for RCB and conceded 10 in the first over that included a six and a four. Saini conceded 12 runs in the next over as he was hit for a four and a six by Livingstone. Kohli gave the ball to Khejroliya for the third over but he too went for 18 runs. Chahal was brought in and soon he took the scalp of Samson. After the wicket, rain interrupted the match and this time, it had to be called off. With just 1 point from this match, RCB got knocked out of the IPL 2019.

Kohli was sensational for 25 runs in just 7 balls that includes 1 four and 3 sixes. de Villiers made 10 in 4 balls with a couple of fours. Chahal got the only wicket in his two balls before the rain interruption.

Rajasthan Royals Review

Rajasthan chose to field after winning the toss as Smith indicated their focus was more on winning than the math to reach the playoffs. RR brought in Lomror in place of Turner. Varun Aaron started with a 148 km/h delivery, only to be dispatched for a six by Kohli. His second ball went for six despite Kohli outside-edged it. Aaron conceded 23 runs in the first over. Gopal came to the rescue of RR in the second over as he removed Kohli after conceding a six and a four. The very next ball he removed the dangerous de Villiers while Smith grabbed Stoinis’ catch to award Gopal with his first IPL hat-trick. Apart from Gopal, Thomas, Unadkat, and Parag did not allow any RCB batsmen other than Kohli and de Villiers to cross even 10 runs and at they took 7 RCB wickets and received the target of 63.

Samson hit Yadav for a six and a four in the first over. Saini too smashed Livingstone for a four and a six in the second over and RR needed 41 runs in next three overs. Samson took the charge against Khejroliya in the third and hit him for a couple of sixes and a boundary, which brought down the required run rate to 11.5. Samson fell to Chahal while going for a shot over the extra cover, but at the end, Negi grabbed his catch. The second spell of rain forced the umpires to finally call-off the match. RR could have scored 22 in last 10 balls, so they must be disappointed on missing out 1 point.

SV Samson scored glittering 28 off 13 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Livingstone scored 11 in 7 balls with 1 four and a six. Gopal got his astonishing hat-trick for 12 runs, while Thomas took 2 wickets. Unadkat and Parag took 1 wicket each.

Upcoming Matches:

RCB are playing their last match of the IPL 2019 on 4th May, against Sunrisers Hyderabad at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. they played well in the last few games and needed a little bit of luck. But now that pressure is off to compete for the playoffs, they would look forward to playing freely and just enjoy the game against SRH.

Rajasthan, on the other hand, has a tougher competition as they would play an away match, another must-win, against Delhi Capitals on 4th May at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground. RR would carry the confidence of remaining unbeaten in the last three games. They need to win this one and grab two more points to stay in the competition.
