SA20 2025 - England Cricketers To Watch Out

South Africa will be buzzing with some T20 cricket action from the 2nd week of January as the 3rd season of SA20 goes on the floor. The first fixture of the league is scheduled to take place on 9th January between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and MI Cape Town at the St. George’s Oval.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the previous edition of the league and that marks their 2nd consecutive win. They have dominated the first two seasons of SA20 and the franchise will be expected to continue their domination in the 3rd season as well. Durban Super Giants came out as the runners-up in the previous edition of the league whereas Pretoria Capitals were the runners-up in the first edition of the league. However, in both seasons, MI Cape Town has come out as the weak franchise and they have finished at the bottom of the point table on both occasions.

For SA20 2025, the player auction took place on 1st October 2024. It should be noted that English players have taken an active part in the auctions and we expect to see some of the best T20 players from England in the 3rd season.

1) Moeen Ali - Joburg Super Kings

Moeen Ali will be part of the Joburg Super Kings this year again and it will be his 2nd appearance with the team. In the previous edition of the league, Moeen’s appearance was not as good as expected but since his retirement from international cricket, he will be able to focus completely on T20 cricket leagues and that might bring his old form back.

2) Liam Livingstone - Pretoria Capitals

England’s Liam Livingstone will be making his 2nd appearance for Pretoria Capitals this year. He is one of England’s T20 specialist cricketers who can bowl and bat equally well. Liam has seen a major improvement in his performance in white-ball cricket this year and he will be expected to continue his momentum in SA20 2025 league as well.

3) Leus du Plooy - Joburg Super Kings

Leus du Plooy is England’s one of the most exciting prospects who is part of SA20 since its first edition. He has not been part of international cricket so far but at the age of 29, du Plooy is in demand in SA20. In the 2025 edition of SA20, Leus du Plooy will be playing his 3rd edition of the league and continuing his loyalty with the Joburg Super Kings.
 

4) Tom Abell - Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Tom Abell made headlines in the previous edition of the league with his batting talent while playing for the champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape. He was one of the primary contributors to the success of the Eastern Cape and this year as well, Abell will be expected to dominate the bowling attack from every squad.

5) Will Jacks - Pretoria Capitals

Will Jacks is one player from England who is in high demand in the T20 cricket leagues across the globe. When it comes to SA20, Jacks became part of the league from the first edition and currently he is ranked 9th in the overall collection of runs. Will Jacks is known for his ability to play risky shots and score quick boundaries against the pace attack.
