Scott Bolland Replaces Josh Hazlewood!!
With Josh Hazlewood missing out on the second Test of the ongoing five-match series against India, Australia is all set to add a new layer to their pace attack. Scott Bolland, the 35-year-experienced pacer, has been added to their squad for the second test.
The second Test of 2024-25 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set to kick start on Friday, December 6. With the pink ball in his hands, the Aussie team expects to do wonders at Adelaide Oval.
Bolland’s Big Opportunity
Josh Hazlewood is a match-winner. While the Australian team was struggling in the first test, Hazlewood stood as a one-man army, picking up four important wickets at Optus Stadium. However, recently, Australia suffered a major setback with Josh getting into an injury.
Considering the hot form of Josh Hazlewood, the team will struggle to fill the empty spot. However, Boland, 35, comes into the squad to replace Josh. In a recent interview, Australia captain Pat Cummins expressed his confidence in Boland. The captain revealed that it's pretty awesome to give Bolland a chance, and like he proved his worth in several other test matches and the BBL tournament, he will be an asset in this series too.
Boland is a complete bowler, popular for his disciplined bowling and ability to get that extra movement. According to sources, he is doing great in the nets, and he will aim to replicate his past success in the second test. His inclusion in the Australian lineup has added that much-needed spark to their bowling attack, and it's the only change in the lineup.
Mitchell Marsh Gets Bowling Clearance
Besides Bolland, we will see a new change in the Australian bowling attack. Marsh has finally cleared the bowling test, and he is fit to deliver those beautiful spells. He retains this spot in the team, despite speculations of replacement due to a back injury. Overall, the team looks solid, with a new plan to defeat India after a heavy 295-run defeat in Perth.
India Yet to Announce XI
Australia looks super prepared for the second test. On the other hand, India has not yet revealed their playing XI. Under Jasprit Bumrah's captaincy, the team played like champions. But now with Captain Rohit Sharma in the driving seat, there are a lot of questions on the team setup. Will Rohit replace KL Rahul, despite his incredible performance in Test and the Indian Premier League, or will Rohit push himself down the batting order? That's the hottest question right now.
Australia Playing XI for the Second Test
Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Nathan McSweeney, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey (WK), Pat Cummins (C), Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, and Scott Boland.
