Mumbai Indians is one of the most dominating franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League. They have won 5 IPL trophies and the team stands tall with some of the best names from T20 cricket.
Back in 2008, when the first season of the Indian Premier League took place, nobody imagined that MI could dominate the tournament for such a long time. They are known to give chances to the young players and build a strong team that can present themselves as the force of nature in every season.
However, in the last few years, Mumbai Indians have not seen the sunshine. They have struggled to make an impact in the league and the team has made some horrible decisions. Considering the previous performance of the franchise, betting on IPL will see a different trend for Mumbai Indians.
They replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as their new skipper and things went down the drain. On top of it, Ishan Kishan, the young Indian prodigy, was not in the right frame of mind to give the team a solid start from the top.
Like Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan has also made headlines for all the wrong reasons in the last one year. At first, he was sent back home from South Africa due to some internal issues. Later, BCCI removed him from the central contract because the player failed to appear in Indian domestic cricket.
Kishan had high hopes for IPL and expectations were that things would turn around for him. However, things didn't go as per the plan Ishan Kishan failed to impress BCCI and the selection committee.

The Duleep Trophy is a completely different format as compared to IPL. Ishan has shown positive signs but it is going to be a huge risk for Mumbai Indians to retain him for the fast-paced IPL format considering the performance of the Duleep Trophy.
Mumbai Indians - On the Verge of a Big Change
Considering the current situation of the team, Ishan Kishan is not the right choice. Mumbai Indians need to change their tactics for IPL 2025 and some new names should be given a chance.

Nehal Wadhera - A Fresh Face
Another option that can replace Ishan Kishan at the top can be the 21-year-old Nehal Wadhera. He joined Mumbai Indians in 2023 and has been an important player for the team. Wadhera can be given the role to open for Mumbai Indians and that will be a profitable aspect for the franchise financially and for the player professionally.
