Temba Bavuma, the regular Proteas skipper, has been ruled out of the 2nd Test as well after missing out on the first Test due to an injury. The 2nd Test between the two teams will start on 29th October and the medical team has confirmed that Bavuma won’t be able to recover before that.

"We just feel medically he's not going to be ready for the second Test," South Africa's Test coach Shukri Conrad. "We will tone down the [rehabilitation] programme so that he can be ready for the Sri Lankan series," he added.

Temba Bavuma is currently with the rest of the team in Bangladesh. However, considering his situation, the management might make a final decision and send him back home.

Coach Shukri Conrad expressed that the management wants him to stay but considering his situation, it will be better for the skipper to leave and start the recovery process at home.

Bavuma’s injury occurred during the ODI series against Ireland when he fell in a clumsy position. The injury occurred on his elbow and at the same spot on his previous injury which occurred in 2022.

In the first Test, Aiden Markram led the team and Matthew Breetzke replaced the batter at number 6. The Proteas are expected to go with the same lineup and expect a positive outcome.
