Cricket South Africa announced their squad for the tour recently and the Proteas will come up with some major changes. They have a home advantage and the squad has some new faces in the team.

The Proteas have received good news that their primary pacers Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee will be making a return against India. The duo have been the backbone of South Africa in the shortest format of cricket.

Both were recently part of South Africa’s domestic tournament CSA Domestic T20 Challenge. Marco Jansen was last seen in international cricket during the T20 World Cup and Coetzee last played against West Indies.

The management has decided to give some rest to Lungi Ngidi, who is currently playing against Bangladesh. Ngidi might make his return against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at home in December.

With Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada has also been excluded because of the tight schedule. Rabada will take a rest for the whole series and won’t be playing a single fixture against India.

Two new names have been selected for the T20 series from the recently held CSA T20 Challenge. Mihlali Mpongwana and Andile Simelane were the second-highest wicket-takers in the tournament and they both have been named in the squad.

Donovan Ferreira is another face on the team. Ferreira has been named after his fabulous performance in the CSA T20 Challenge. He was the 3rd highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Tabraiz Shamsi opted out of the central contract and hence the selection committee has gone for Keshav Maharaj and legspinner, Nqabayomzi Peter. The 26-year-old Lutho Sipamla is also making a comeback to the team. He was last seen with the team in 2022.
