SRH Team Preview - Chances of SRH winning IPL 2025

The runner-ups of the previous edition of the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad, will get a new start with new hopes in IPL 2025. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, Sunrisers Hyderabad have witnessed a sudden rise in the quality of their cricket.

Since their inception in 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad have won one Premier League title in 2016. They have also reached the final twice in 2018 and 2024, respectively, but failed to lift the trophy. Overall, Sunrisers Hyderabad is a strong team and they will be in the spotlight this year considering their dominating performance in the previous edition.

They reached the playoffs but faced an unfortunate defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 1st playoff. For IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be under the leadership of Australian skipper Pat Cummins again. He has been retained by the team management and that is a good sign for the team.

With Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, and Travis Head are also retained. These names also represent an aggressive batting attack of Hyderabad and hence we can expect fireworks in every game.

Former Mumbai Indians top order batter Ishan Kishan came out as the costliest signing at a price tag of INR 11.25 Crore during the IPL 2025 mega auctions. India’s ferocious pacer Mohammed Shami was bought for INR 10 Crore and the purple cap winner of IPL 2024 - Harshal Patel, was bought for INR 8 Crore.

Rahul Chahar (Rs. 3.2 crore), Adam Zampa (Rs. 2.40 crore), Abhinav Manohar (Rs. 3.20 crore), Simarjeet Singh (Rs. 1.50 crore), Jaydev Unadkat (Rs. 1 crore), Brydon Carse (Rs. 1 crore), and Kamindu Mendis (Rs. 75 lakh) were the other bog names purchased during the mega auctions.

Sunrisers Hyderabad - Squad Strength

Without a doubt, Sunriders Hyderabad have their real strength in their batting unit. They have the strongest lineup of batters and a good depth till the lower-order. The fearless Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma will be expected to open the game for the team. At number 3, Ishan Kishan is the best suited batter. It is a new beginning of the talented youngster and he will be expected to make a full use of it.

In their middle order, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abhinav Manohar will be expected to take the center stage. Nitish Reddy will play a key role at number 4. He carries a higher strike rate and can do major damage to the opposition during the middle overs. Nitish also carries T20 experience and can handle the pressure if the top order has failed to make an impact.

The signing of Mohammed Shami from Gujarat Titans has come out as an opportunity for Sunrisers Hyderabad. His pace attack will be combined with Pat Cummins with the new ball. Mohammed Shami is coming back in action after a year as he missed out on the previous edition because of the knee injury. The duo can be lethal and can work their magic against any odds. Their third partner will be Harshal Patel, who was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will have 3 options for impact players. Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Chahar, and Atharva Taide are the three players who can be used as impact players in the league.

Abhinav Manohar is an experienced T20 batter who has proven records in the domestic cricket. He carries a good average and can be an asset to the team in the middle order.

Rahul Chahar is the next best spin option for SRH. He has an immense experience of IPL and has positive records in T20 domestic cricket. Atharva Taide is an all-rounder who can be used as a spin bowler and a middle order batter in the league.

Sunrisers Hyderabad - Weakness

Sunrisers Hyderabad has a complete squad overall. However, one missing link is their spin unit. They will have Adam Zampa as their primary spinner, who has not been in good form when it comes to IPL. Their second option will be Rahul Chahar who has failed to make an impact in the last few seasons. If these two spinners fail, they will go with the third option, Zeeshan Ansari, who is very new to the IPL setup.

Their 2nd weakness is their death over bowling. Pat Cummins, Mohammed Shami, and Harshal Patel are not well trained for death bowling and they might fail in tight situations.
