New Zealand has received a mixed bag of results in the recent white-ball fixtures. The primary reason for the same is the consistent change in their leadership and inability to find a full-time captain for the team.
For the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand T20 series, the management has named Mitchell Santner as their interim skipper. The management has assured that they will announce the name of the permanent captain in December when Sri Lanka travels to New Zealand for a white ball series.
All-rounder Nathan Smith and wicketkeeper-batter Mitchell Hay are the two new faces in the team. Nathan Smith made headlines recently by winning NZC's Men's Domestic Player of the Year award and earned a central contract in September.
Mitchell Hay made headlines when he won the Canterbury's Male Player of the Year award in April. He will play a crucial role for New Zealand in the upcoming white-ball series.
Lockie Ferguson will be the key pacer for the team. The team will also have Nathan Smith, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, and Josh Clarkson as other pace options for the series.
Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips will be the primary duo for the spin attack with Ish Sodhi as the most experienced spinner in the team. Glenn Phillips, Will Young and Henry Nicholls will provide the much-required depth in the batting unit for Kiwis.
