Sri Lanka vs New Zealand Test Series - Key Players From Both Sides

After a positive end to the Test series against England, Sri Lanka is now coming back home to host New Zealand for a 2-match Test series. New Zealand had a disappointing end to the one-off Test against Afghanistan as the fixture was abandoned due to interruptions from rains.

New Zealand is coming back in action after a disappointing end to their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. They currently stand at the 3rd spot in the World Test Championship point table and have a chance to reach the finals at the lord’s.

New Zealand has been part of 4 Test fixtures this season. They have played two 2-match Test series against South Africa and Australia respectively. Kiwis have won the series against the Proteas but they have lost against the Aussies.

The selection committee has announced a strong squad for the Sri Lanka tour. Tim Southee will be the leading man for the series and he will have Tom Latham as his deputy.

The all-rounder top-order batsman, Rachin Ravindra has come out as a future star for the Kiwi squad in recent times. He has become a strong option for New Zealand in all the formats of the game.

Pathum Nissanka

In the last Test fixture against England, Pathum Nissanka came out as the match-winner for Sri Lanka. He was missing out on the red-ball format for Sri Lanka for quite some time but his return to playing XI has been fabulous.
