Sri Lanka vs West Indies T20 Series - West Indies Squad and Key Players

After dominating New Zealand at home in red-ball cricket, Sri Lanka is all set to display their dominance in the white-ball format. Sri Lanka is all set to host West Indies for a 3-match T20 and ODI series at home.

Cricket West Indies recently announced their squad for the T20i series against Sri Lanka. West Indies will be leaving for the Sri Lanka tour after scoring a fabulous 3-0 ODI series win against South Africa at home. They will be motivated to continue their form in the shortest format of the game against Sri Lanka.

There have been some major changes in the West Indies. Few senior players have opted out from the series and hence the selectors have given a chance to some fresh faces who had an impressive season at CPL 2024.

Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer and Akeal Hosein won’t be travelling with the team because they opted out of the series because of the hectic CPL schedule. Shamar Springer and Terrance Hinds have been named for the series because of their brilliant performance in CPL this year.

“The tour of Sri Lanka gives us a chance to test our depth and assess players in different situations, especially with several senior players missing out for various reasons, including a need for rest and rehabilitation from injury. We are confident in the squad’s ability to compete strongly against Sri Lanka,” Darren Sammy was quoted as saying by Cricket West Indies.

The selection of the team clearly shows that Cricket West Indies has started thinking for the future and they are building on a team for T20 World Cup 2026. Taking the same into consideration, youngster Jewel Andrew has been named into the team.
