T20 WC 2024: Team India not happy with average training facilities

The Indian cricket team is reportedly dissatisfied with the practice facilities provided for their preparation ahead of their only warm-up match against Bangladesh for the T20 World Cup 2024. On Wednesday, Rohit Sharma led the team for a net session at Cantiague Park, utilizing three of the six available drop-in pitches at the temporary venue.

Source Reveals Issues with Makeshift Venue

A source close to the team disclosed that head coach Rahul Dravid was unimpressed with the available facilities. The source elaborated, "Everything is temporary, from the pitches to the other facilities. It's fair to say everything is quite average. The team has raised their concerns about this."

The food arrangements at the venue have also been a point of contention. According to reports, both journalists and players have expressed dissatisfaction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly lodged complaints regarding the food service.

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has denied these claims. In a statement to CricketNext, the ICC said, "There have been no complaints or concerns expressed regarding the practice facilities at Cantiague Park by any team."

India to move to Florida for last Group Game

India's only warm-up match, BAN vs IND, for the T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled for June 1st. Until then, the team will be training at the temporary facilities of Cantiague Park. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, which will host their matches, lacks practice facilities. Therefore, even after the warm-up, the Indian team will return to Cantiague Park for practice sessions before their three New York group matches against Pakistan, USA, and Ireland. Their final group-stage match against Canada will be played in Florida.

Adding to the team's concerns, the weather conditions don't seem ideal for an ICC event. Storms in Dallas and recent rain in parts of New York around the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have reportedly caused some damage to the T20 World Cup venues.
