Tabraiz Shamsi Says No To the Central Contract by CSA To Focus More on T20 Cricket Leagues

Cricket South Africa has given some of the best cricketing talent to international cricket. Tabraiz Shamsi is one of them who has come out as the best left-arm wrist spin bowler for the team in recent times.

However, a recent development has taken place between Shamsi and Cricket South Africa. Tabraiz Shamsi has chosen not to sign the central contract with the board and explore more opportunities in the T20 Cricket Leagues.

He still remains the key figure for the Proteas squad. CSA is in full support of the decision for the player and that means he will be part of the team in major tournaments subject to his fitness and form.

"Shamo is a key member of our white-ball squads, and while we respect his decision, we are pleased that he remains committed to representing South Africa," said Enoch Nkwe, CSA's Director of Cricket. "We sincerely appreciate his honesty and openness on the matter, which is integral and what we want from our players."

Tabraiz Shamsi is an active member of T20 cricket leagues across the globe. He is part of franchises like Paarl Royals in SA20 and in the past, he has played an important role for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Carribean Premier League.

"I have decided to opt out of my central contract in order to be more flexible during the domestic season, allowing me to explore all opportunities available and look after my family in the best way possible," commented Shamsi.

Shamsi will now focus more towards the T20 Cricket Leagues like BBL, CPL, and SA20. His career in white-ball cricket might get impacted but that all depends on how things turn out in the near future.

Shamsi has been an active member of the Proteas side in the T20i format. He has picked up 89 wickets in 70 fixtures at an economy of 7.39. Shamsi is known for his ample variations and a good googly.

Tabraiz Shamsi - ODI Stats

Tabraiz Shamsi was last seen in the ODI format in 2023 playing against Australia. Since then, Shamsi has been absent in the ODI format and there are no future plans for his participation in the 50-over format.
