Players in the County Championship Division One are often full internationals or looking to bang down the selector's doors and get another or first opportunity. With the latest round of County Championship fixtures beginning on Tuesday, we run the rule over the top performers with both bat and ball so far this season.
Batting has seemed like a breeze at times in this campaign but there will be pressure on the batters ahead of this round with the Hundred about to take centre stage.
This is the final chance for any player to make a name for themselves in red-ball cricket ahead of September.
The Top Batters So Far
The top three batters in terms of runs so far this season in the County Championship Division One are all openers who have been previously disguarded by England!
However, that has not put any of them off and all three are delivering exceptional numbers in 2025.

Left-arm spinner Jack Leach will be hoping that his performances for Somerset have got him back into the conversation of the England selectors with the Ashes looming.
Batting all-rounder George Hill at Yorkshire has had a breakthrough season and also picked up five wickets in the England Lions versus India A fixture in early June.
Both will be hoping to be in Australia come mid-November!
