Following South Africa's famous win over Australia at Lord's in the 2023-2025 World Test Championship Final earlier this summer, we have seen a growth in interest in the tournament across the globe.
No one expected South Africa to win the WTC and, just as New Zealand did in the inaugural 2019-2021 edition, it gives hope to some of the so called lesser nations that they can to mix it with the 'big-boys' even in the Test format.
England and India conclude their five-match Test series at The Oval starting on Thursday and then there will be a gap of two months before the tournament ramps up again in October.
It is still early doors in this 2025-2027 WTC, but right now, it is Australia and Sri Lanka who are on course to contest the final at Lord's in June 2027!

With nine teams contesting the tournament, there are no shortages of betting opportunities across the WTC and in individual Tests and series.
Here's how the WTC currently sits.

| England | 26 | 54.17 |

| Bangladesh | 4 | 16.67 |

Australia are the early pace-setters following their 3-0 series win in the Caribbean in July. Their next assignement in the WTC comes with the small matter of the Ashes down-under from November onwards and history tells us that the hosts will have no problems in still being top of the tree come January 2026.
England have failed to win as much as one Test in Australia since the 2010/2011 tour - that's 15 Tests in total and although the Aussies do not look as strong as previously, they will still be huge favourites to retain the urn.
- Australia to win the 2025/26 Ashes - 1.57
- England to win the 2025/26 Ashes - 3.25
- 2025/26 Ashes to end as a draw - 7.50
Test Cricket To Follow Over The Coming Days
The Ashes are still four months away and cricket fans need to get through August and September before the WTC resumes!
Therefore, the Tests at The Oval between England and India, as well as the first of two between Zimbabwe and New Zealand, take on greater significance.
Red ball cricket is considered by many to be the ultimate, with Test cricket at the pinnacle. All eyes on the action in London on Thursday and Bulawayo starting on Wednesday.
