WBBL 2024: Georgia Redmayne Re-Signs with Brisbane Heat

WBBL 2024: Georgia Redmayne Re-Signs with Brisbane Heat

The Brisbane Heat have secured the services of another key player in their WBBL squad, with wicket-keeper Georgia Redmayne signing on for an additional season. Already under contract for this summer, Redmayne has committed to staying with the Heat through the WBBL|11 season, as the team ramps up preparations for next month’s Weber Women’s Big Bash League.

Redmayne follows Australia ‘A’ captain Charli Knott, who also extended her contract with the Heat earlier this month, further solidifying the squad's core. The announcement of Redmayne's contract extension coincided with the launch of a new sponsorship deal between Queensland Cricket and Ward.

Ward’s branding will feature on the playing kits of both the WBBL Heat and Queensland Fire teams this season. Additionally, the company will support Queensland Cricket’s female youth programs, regional initiatives, and community outreach through the Queensland Cricket Foundation, aimed at promoting the growth of women’s cricket.

Redmayne, who has played 113 WBBL matches in her career, joined the Heat in WBBL|06 after previous stints with the Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers. She enters her fifth season with the team following a successful winter, where she was part of the London Spirit squad that won The Hundred in England and the Barbados Royals, champions of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League

Redmayne Reacts to Heat Return

“I’m thrilled to re-sign with the Heat, The past four years with the team have been my favorite in the Big Bash, and I’m excited to continue this journey. Playing a stand-alone game at the Gabba is really exciting. Hopefully, we can draw a big crowd for a Saturday night match in Brisbane. We’re up against the Adelaide Strikers, so it’s sure to be a quality match a grand final rematch.”

In her 56 matches for the Heat, Redmayne has scored 1,502 runs, taken 40 catches, and made 26 stumpings. She will be in action next week alongside her Queensland Fire teammates as they host two Women’s National Cricket League one-day games at Allan Border Field on Friday and Sunday.

In addition to the WBBL Gabba Smash, the Heat will play three home games at Allan Border Field against the Renegades (30 October), Stars (22 November), and Sixers (24 November).
