The Indian Premier League is again in the news because of the retention lists released by all the franchises. Now, the time has come for the management to build the rest of the team through the IPL 2025 mega auction.
The IPL 2025 mega auction dates are not yet finalized but it is expected to take place in January 2025. Cricket talents from across the globe will register themselves for the mega auction and will be expecting a hefty contract from any of the franchises in IPL.
Royal Challengers Bangalore - a team with a star-studded lineup of players but zero trophies in 16 years, will try to build an IPL trophy-winning squad again this year. RCB is one of the biggest franchises when it comes to the players they have signed through the mega auction in the past.
Royal Challengers Bangalore retained three players from the previous season. They still have INR 83 crore in their purse and have an opportunity to RTM three players from the mega auction.
It was a shock to see management releasing Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj, Faf du Plessis, and Cameron Green. Replacing or rehiring these 4 players will be a huge task in the mega auction.

What to Expect from RCB in IPL Mega Auction?
Resigning of Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj has been a key player for Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2018. He is a valuable player for the team and it was shocking to see the release of Siraj. There is no clear reason for his release and hence there is a possibility that the team management might get into a bidding war for Mohammed Siraj during the mega auctions.
Siraj’s peak with Bangalore came in 2023 where he picked up 19 wickets in 14 fixtures at an economy of 7.52. However, the previous season was not as fruitful as it was expected from the pacer.

Bidding for 2 Uncapped Players
Royal Challengers Bangalore is known to either buy star cricketers or go for upcoming talent and craft his skills for future challenges. In order to build a team for IPL 2025, the management will go for some domestic talent and two names primarily.
Shashank Singh is released from the Punjab Kings squad this year. He made headlines for his ferocious batting for Punjab in the previous edition. Shashank is on the list of scouts from different franchises but RCB might be the right destination for him.

Another player who will be on the list of the RCB management will be Mahipal Lamror. After the release of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green from the unit, RCB needs an aggressive batsman in the middle order. They need someone who can take risks and score quick runs for the team.
Mahipal was already part of Bangalore but he has been released from the team. There is a possibility that the management might bid for him again for IPL 2025.
