Indian cricket reached new heights with the beginning of the Indian Premier League in 2008. Considering the success of the league, BCCI made a decision in 2023 and gave the green flag to the Women’s Premier League. In just 2 seasons WPL has become the centre point of women’s cricket in India.
There is no confirmation on the schedule yet but it is confirmed that WPL 2025 will be taking place. Every franchise has finalised the list of retained players and now the franchises will be building the rest of the team from the upcoming WPL 2025 auctions.
In 2023, Mumbai Indians became the winners of the season by defeating Delhi Capitals. They stood 2nd at the league stage with 6 wins and 2 losses and a net run rate of +1.711.
In the previous edition of the league, Royal Challengers Bangalore came out as the winner with a fabulous performance. They finished third at the league stage with 4 wins and 4 losses with a net run rate of +0.306 and defeated Delhi Capitals in the final game.
