WPL 2025: Players Who Could Claim the Purple Cap

WPL 2025: Players Who Could Claim the Purple Cap

In just two seasons, the Women’s Premier League has become the centre stage of Women’s cricket in the country. Women cricketers in India and across the globe are now ready to experience the third season of the league.

WPL 2025 will begin the first fixture scheduled to take place on 14th February between Gujarat Giants and the defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore. The first fixture will take place at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.

The WPL betting sites in India are about to gain momentum for all the fixtures and their respective players. Speculations are going on in the market regarding the purple cap winners from WPL 2025.

The Purple Cap award is for the bowlers and a player who scalps the highest number of wickets in the league. In the first edition of the league, Mumbai Indians’ Hayley Matthews won the award by picking up 16 wickets in 10 matches at an economy of 5.94.

In the previous edition, Shreyanka Patil from Royal Challengers Bangalore came out on top by scalping 13 wickets in 8 matches at an economy of 7.30. In the last year, some brilliant bowlers have seen an uprising in women’s cricket and hence we expect a new name.

In this article, we have listed down a few names who might win the Purple Cap in WPL 2025 as per the online cricket betting apps.

1) Jess Jonassen - Delhi Capitals

Jess Jonassen has witnessed a sudden uprising in women’s cricket in the last year. In WBBL 2024, Jess Jonassen came out as the 3rd highest-wicket-taker in the league and in WPL 2023-24, she was the 4th highest-wicket-taker in the league. Jonassen will be expected to continue her momentum in WPL 2025 as well and she will be a threat to all the strong opposition.

2) Deepti Sharma - UP Warriorz

India’s own Deepti Sharma is a star all-rounder when it comes to international cricket. In T20 cricket, Deepti Sharma is the leading wicket-taker for India. She came out as a weak bowler during the WBBL 2024 season but at home, she might come out as a venomous performer. As a player, Deepti has improved a lot and now, even under pressure, she can come out and play her best game.

She missed out on the WBBL 2024 season but has been an active player in the T20 international circuit. WPL 2023-24 was her best performance but she is expected to go beyond that in the upcoming season of the league.
