This year Valentine’s Day will be a bit more special for the women cricket fans. WPL 2025 is officially starting on February 14, and the officials have revealed the venues. Baroda and Lucknow are hosting the league for the first time, while Mumbai is all set to return as WPL host.
BCCI Makes the Big Reveal about WPL 2025
On Thursday, BCCI finally dropped the much-anticipated TATA Women's Premier League 2025 schedule. This time the games will be organized at Baroda, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai. With new stadiums coming into the picture, WPL 2025 will be bigger and better.
The third edition of WPL will mark a bombastic opening with the Gujarat Giants clashing against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the newly opened BCA Stadium in Baroda on February 14. Before the action moves to Bengaluru, where RCB will play their first home game against the mighty Mumbai Indians, the season 1 champions, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. According to the schedule, Baroda will host a total of six matches.
New Venues Coming into the Picture
Baroda and Lucknow are the debutant hosts for the WPL 2025. On the other hand, Mumbai will make a return to the host stadium's list.
After the immense success of season two, which was hosted across Bengaluru and New Delhi, this year the stakes will be higher. In March 2025, the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai will host the WPL final. Lucknow, the new hosts, will organize four entertainment-packed matches for the home team UP Warriorz from March 3.
Run to the WPL 2025 Finals
WPL 2025 will follow the standard points system. The second- and third-place teams compete in the Eliminator for a berth in the final match. On the other hand, the team that finishes first after all league games moves straight to the final.
The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, look in great shape under captain Smriti Mandhana. On the other hand, the first season winners, MI is also eyeing the 2025 title under Harmanpreet Kaur.
