Zaheer Khan Joins Hands with LSG as a New Mentor in IPL 2025
India’s legendary pace bowler, Zaheer Khan, is making his comeback to the IPL tournament after 2 years of absence. Lucknow Super Giants have appointed Zaheer Khan as their new mentor for Indian Premier League 2025.
Zaheer Khan Mentorship History in IPL
In the past, Zaheer Khan was associated with the 5-time champion Mumbai Indians as a mentor. He joined Mumbai Indians in 2018 and left the team in 2022. Since then, Zaheer has not been associated in any form with IPL.
Lucknow Super Giants has been without a mentor since 2023 when Gautam Gambhir left the franchise and joined Kolkata Knight Riders. The position was vacant for a year and that also impacted the performance of LSG as the team finished the IPL 2024 season in the 7th spot and failed to reach the playoffs for the first time.
Morne Morkel - the bowling coach of LSG has also departed from the team to join Gambhir cam team India. In this scenario, Zaheer will have the dual responsibility of the franchise.
He will be responsible to mentor the team overall and coach the bowling unit of the team.
According to the sources, Zaheer will also take part in scouting of the players for the franchise and he will play an important role in the upcoming IPL mega auctions.
Zaheer Khan was part of three IPL teams - Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Daredevils, in his 9 years of IPL career.
