After completing the ODI series against Australia, Pakistan is all set to travel to Zimbabwe for a 3-match ODI series. It has been 4 years since these two teams last met in the ODI setup.

Both teams have been through some major changes in the last 4 years. Pakistan, on the other hand, has suddenly lost their rhythm due to internal clashes and regular captaincy changes.

Pakistan Cricket Board has given the full-time captaincy to Mohammad Rizwan after the resignation of Babar Azam. Babar Azam resigned from the white-ball captaincy to focus more on his individual performance. However, the former skipper won’t be part of the Pakistan’s Zimbabwe tour.

The reason for his absence from the tour is not specified as of now. According to the sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board wanted to rotate the players to find out the best possible playing XI combination.

There are some new faces in the team closely observing the Pakistan domestic tournaments. Haseebullah Khan, who has already made his debut in the T20 format for Pakistan, has been named in the ODI as well. He will be expected to receive his maiden cap in the 5-over format.

Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub will be the top-order duo with skipper Mohammad Rizwan at number three. Pakistan’s middle order will see Aamer Jamal, Salman Agha, and Irfan Khan. The trio will be expected to play an important role while scoring quick runs for the team.

Tayyab Tahir is also part of the squad. He will bring in extra depth to the batting unit but he will be expected to play the role of an all-rounder. On the bowling front, men in green will be expecting a good start from Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, and Ahmed Daniyal.

In the absence of Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan is expected to struggle with pace bowling. The duo is absent from the squad because of the squad rotation.

1) Haris Rauf

PCB has not named some of their best bowlers in the squad. However, they have shown their trust in Harid Rauf who has been an exceptional performer with the ball. The medium pacer is known for swing bowling and controlling the run rate of the opposition during the middle overs.

2) Saim Ayub

Saim Ayub has just entered the squad in the ODI format. He made his debut against Australia and did a fine job for the team from the top order. It should be noted Saim is an aggressive batter when it comes to the T20 format and his transition to the 50-over format has been exceptionally well.
