Memphis Grizzlies had great form so far in the 2024-25 NBA season, particularly as they look to rebound from such a horrid opening to the new season where the team won only 2 of the first 5 games. Getting off on the worst footing, they won the game back and swept through the last three matches clearly: 123-98 over Blazers then against Bulls 142-131 followed by against 76ers 117-111. 

The Grizzlies are running strong at 2nd in the Southwest Division and 5th in the Western Conference with an 11-7 record. They average about 47.8 rebounds, a block in 7.2, and an assist in 29.8 a game. Their shooting efficiency for 2 points is at 56.9%, and 3-point shooting efficiency at 34.9%. They also are stingy on defense, scoring only a paltry 112.8 points per game. Jaren Jackson Jr. is the man to watch this season, playing 15, averaging 22.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and really showing his skills in dunking. Ja Morant did return from a second injury layoff. 

He averaged 20.6 points and 9.1 assists in 8 games, but the team continues to face major player injuries. Vince Williams Jr. and Ankle injury will miss the game. Zach Edey has an ankle, and GG Jackson II possesses a problem with his foot. Although they lost, the Grizzlies' starting five still is very good and strong. 

Represented by Ja Morant at Point Guard, Jaylen Wells at Shooting Guard, Desmond Bane at Small Forward, Jaren Jackson Jr. at Power Forward, and Brandon Clarke as the Center of the squad, the team provides very explosive offensive talent coupled with a great and strong defensive scheme. They are well structured to have an edge to win as the season unfolds. Their success so far, coupled with superior team chemistry, gives good reason to believe their greater potential is to run deep into the playoffs.

The Detroit Pistons had run into some difficulties before their most recent match against the Toronto Raptors. Their 102-100 victory against the side from the North was their first in three matches. As they had lost 3 straight games to the likes of the Magic, the Hornets, and the Bulls.  Currently with a record of 8-11 and 9th in the East, the Pistons have been in much better form this season compared to how they were in 2023-24. On the offensive end, they are doing pretty well, averaging 109.8 per game. 

They shoot 46.9% from 2 and 34% from 3, so they could always need to be shooting better from deep. The team also gets 45.8 rebounds and 24.2 assists per game, showing great ball movement and punch in the paint. Their defense on the other hand has been balanced but is their biggest weakness currently, allowing 111.0 points per game. They have been giving up far too many turnovers with 16.1 per contest. 

On the other side of the coin, they are fantastic at blocking shots and average 5.7 blocks per game which helps to make up for their horrible defensive play at times. Controlling the boards and blocking shots will be used in-game to shut down the defense and not let opposing players get those opportunities to score. Cade Cunningham, who's usually quite consistent and highly contributing is their focal point, but because of the injury he sustained recently, Jaden Ivey is the expected replacement who has great potential and hit the game-winner against the Toronto Raptors in their last game. 

Isaiah Stewart too has shown great contributions on the end with quality hustle much needed by the team. Bobi Klintman is the only other casualty in this Pistons side and will miss out with a calf injury. Thus, if the Pistons have to climb up the ranking, they shall need to concentrate on the defensive aspect and should strive to make fewer mistakes in the offense.  They would strengthen their perimeter defense in such a fashion that the opponents have lower percentages in three-point shooting and take advantage of rebounding power to win more games and push up their position in the Eastern Conference standings to a great extent.
