The Hundred Betting - Sites, Odds, Rules and News

The Hundred is a brand new cricket competition for 2021, having been delayed a year as a result of the impact of the global pandemic.  Taking place in the UK, the tournament uses a franchise format that is very similar to the IPL.

It has been devised in the hope that it will attract a younger, more diverse audience to the sport with the Hundred matches themselves hoped to be attended by a lot of families.

The Hundred news is being gobbled up by cricket lovers as the start of the tournament on July 21 gets nearer, while the Hundred odds are offered on the Hundred betting sites too.

The Hundred is different from most events in that men's and women's competition runs concurrently and they will be given equal weight by the organisers of the tournament as well

Although it is a brand new cricket competition and not much is known about how the Hundred will go as a result, betting on the tournament is likely to be very popular in India.

Cricket lovers in the country have massively embraced Twenty20 over the course of the past decade and, in England, there are hopes the Hundred could be a smash hit, as the IPL.

If that is to happen, then betting on the Hundred is going to have to capture the imagination of sports lovers who want to place wagers on the top action of the day. The Hundred betting odds sites are already being browsed by people ahead of the tournament getting underway on July 21.

With no history in the competition to check out, picking out winners could be a lot more challenging than for other cricket events like the IPL, but that will make it more exciting too.

In the IPL, every ball is an opportunity for wagers and it will be the same in the Hundred betting odds as well, with a shorter format meaning more is riding on every single delivery of the match.

In India, cricket lovers will have a number of different options for the Hundred betting sites with many of the same online bookmakers that offer IPL betting expected to embrace the event.

Here will be the best place to learn all about the Hundred betting odds, so check it out.

What is The Hundred?

The Hundred has been around as an idea for a few years, but 2021 will be the first time that it has taken place. Held in England and Wales, the idea is to introduce a new short form of cricket that will appeal to a mass audience, with hopes for younger and more diverse crowds as a result. The Hundred was initially set to take place in 2020, but it was one of the many cricket competitions that had to be cancelled as a result of the impact of COVID-19 on the world.

Now, though, with the pandemic finally starting to recede in the UK and the vaccination process going smoothly, the time appears to be perfect for the Hundred to arrive. The event can be seen as a slightly tweaked version of the T20 form of the game, with the Hundred betting sites expected to come up with a set of brand new markets for the tournament, which starts on July 21 and will see men's and women's competitions given equal weight as they run concurrently.

The franchise 100-ball cricket tournament features eight teams and matches are expected to take around two and a half hours to complete, making them shorter than an average T20 game.

What are the Hundred rules?

As the name of this new cricket competition suggests, the Hundred is slightly shorter than Twenty20 with each innings lasting for 100 balls, rather than 20 overs. Each over will be made up of 10 balls before there is a change of ends, which it is hoped will help to keep the action moving along very quickly, though bowlers can make their deliveries in batches of five balls.

As with T20, bowlers have a limit on the number of balls they can deliver in the Hundred. This is set at 20 balls, meaning it is likely that five or six bowlers will be used in a game in the Hundred A 25-ball power play start for each team gets the game up and running with only two fielders allowed outside the initial 30-yard circle. One innovation for the Hundred when compared to the UK's T20 competition, the Blast, will be that a strategic time-out of up to two and a half minutes will be available to the bowling side in each innings.

Unlike the Blast, teams in the Hundred are not based on the traditional county structure. Instead, there are eight franchises that are based in seven different cities around England and Wales.

The Hundred Teams

With the Hundred being a franchise-based cricket tournament like the Indian Premier League, there are new teams for fans of the sport to get used to, as well as the various rule changes.

The Hundred teams are based in seven cities in England and Wales, with two of them based in London and the rest spread out fairly evenly around the country, though there are none in the northeast of England, which is a notable omission from the Hundred teams.

Here are the Hundred teams in full, as well as the stadiums they will play in during the event:

Manchester Originals - Old Trafford, Manchester

Representing the county of Lancashire will be the Manchester Originals, with the former Australia batsman Simon Katich having been appointed as their coach. Key players for the Manchester Originals will include Phil Salt, Jamie Overton and Steven Finn, while Lancashire familiar faces like Jos Buttler, Matt Parkinson and Richard Gleeson are on board too. The South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has signed up too, along with India star Nicholas Pooran.

Northern Superchargers - Headingley, Leeds

Just across the Pennines are the Northern Superchargers, representing Yorkshire. Like their local rivals, the Northern Superchargers will be coached by an Australian - Darren Lehmann - while Aaron Finch has been named their captain. Chris Lynn is on board along with Mujeeb Ur Rahman while Ben Stokes was the headline draftee. Yorkshire stars like Adil Rashid and David Willey will also hope to shine in Leeds.

Birmingham Phoenix - Edgbaston, Birmingham

A trio of exciting overseas signings - Shaheen Afridi, Kane Williamson and Adam Zampa - are heading to Birmingham to play for the Phoenix along with their captain, Moeen Ali. Andrew McDonald, yet another Australian, is the coach with England players including Liam Livingstone, Dom Sibley and Chris Woakes set to play for Birmingham Phoenix at the inaugural Hundred.

Trent Rockets - Trent Bridge, Nottingham

Lewis Gregory will captain the Trent Rockets with former England coach Andy Flower in charge of a squad boasting Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rashid Khan and D'Arcy Short as overseas stars. The batting looks stacked for Trent Rockets as they snapped up Joe Root along with Alex Hales and Dawid Malan, plus T20 specialism in the form of experienced duo Luke Wright and Samit Patel.

Welsh Fire - Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

The only team to be based outside of England will be Cardiff's Welsh Fire, which brings together a trio of counties: Glamorgan, Somerset and Gloucestershire. Their coach is Gary Kirsten with an overseas core of Qais Ahmad, Kieron Pollard and Jhye Richardson supplemented by star signing Jonny Bairstow, the England wicketkeeper-batsman. Ollie Pope will also play for Welsh Fire, along with Tom Banton and Liam Plunkett.

London Spirit - Lord's, London

Shane Warne coaches the first of two London-based teams in the Hundred, with his fellow Australian Glenn Maxwell the star signing. Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Nabi are the two other overseas players for London Spirit, who can also call upon England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan. Ravi Bopara, Mark Wood, Joe Denly and Jade Dernbach are in too, with London Spirit having brought together one of the most experienced teams in the competition.

Oval Invincibles - The Oval, London

Across the capital city are the Oval Invincibles, with Tom Moody captaining England opener Jason Roy, along with the likes of Saqib Mahmood and Sam Billings. Overseas stars set to feature at the Oval are the Nepalese spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and two all-rounders: Sunil Narine and Colin Ingram. The Curran brothers - Tom and Sam - are committed to this side too.

Southern Brave - Rose Bowl, Hampshire

Completing the list of the Hundred teams for 2021 is Southern Brave, who will be coached by the Sri Lanka great Mahela Jayawardene. Andre Russell has signed up with the Australian duo of Marcus Stoinis and David Warner as overseas players for the Southern Brave. They also have James Vince in their squad, plus a strong group of pace bowlers led by Jofra Archer and also featuring Chris Jordan, Craig Overton and Tymal Mills.

Which Team will Win The Hundred 2021?

Ahead of the Hundred getting started on July 21 - the Oval Invincibles will be hosting the Manchester Originals in London - interest in the Hundred predictions is now hotting up. According to the bookmakers, there is not a lot to choose from between the eight teams. This due to the fact none of the sides has ever played before, while the brand new format makes it hard to assess which players are going to be particularly dominant.

Most people making the Hundred tips for this year are expecting the Southern Brave to be among the top teams. Coaching expertise comes from the cricket legend Mahela Jayawardene and they look to have assembled a spectacularly strong roster. David Warner should guarantee fireworks at the top of the order, while IPL star Jofra Archer is sure to be a huge threat with the ball as well. Southern Brave are among the favourites for the inaugural title. Another side widely expected to be in the running are the Oval Invincibles, with Shane Warne's expertise likely to be key to their chances. Nepalese spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is one to watch, while the Curran brothers will be known to fans of the IPL already and should star.

Who will be the Top Batsman The Hundred 2021?

With so much talent booked to play in the Hundred, predicting who will be the top batsman at the tournament will be hard for fans of the sport. But cricket experts are widely assuming that the powerful Australians Aaron Finch and David Warner will be two of the top-scoring batters at the Hundred 2021, as long as they can translate their undoubted pedigree into the brand new format.

Jos Buttler is one of the best T20 players in the world and most people expect him to shine at the Hundred too, while his England colleague Jonny Bairstow is another strong contender to be the top batsman in the Hundred 2021. Jason Roy is another to watch in this market too.

Of the other overseas signings, Glenn Maxwell has a chance of topping the scoring for the Hundred 2021 if he gets in early enough, with Kane Williamson another potential winner. Not many Indians have signed up but Nicholas Pooran could well be the top batsman in 2021.

Who will be the Top Bowler The Hundred 2021?

Bowlers might find it harder to adapt to the new format for the Hundred 2021, with potentially 10-ball overs testing their mettle in a way that no other cricket competition ever has.

That said, it is fair to assume that bowlers who shine in the T20 form of the sport will also be able to thrive in the Hundred 2021.

As a result, the England fast bowler Jofra Archer has a good chance of being the top bowler at the Hundred 2021, though his colleague Mark Wood will also contend if he can stay fit. Tymal Mills is one of the other T20 quicks who should be set for a good campaign this year.

Kagiso Rabada, the excellent South African who has signed up to play for the Manchester Originals at Old Trafford, will surely be among the top bowlers at the Hundred 2021 as well.

If it is spinners who come out on top in the inaugural tournament, then the Nepal rising star Sandeep Lamichhane could be one to watch for sure. Birmingham Phoenix's captain Moeen Ali is another strong option for those trying to pick out the top bowler at the Hundred in 2021.
