After a terrible start to the season where they lost four back-to-back games in a space of five days the Detroit Pistons have slowly started to turn their season around as they are no longer at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and are currently a win away from getting into the play-in positions at the time of writing. 

Having been dealt with a tough set of opening fixtures as they hosted both of last year’s Eastern Conference finalists in the Indiana Pacers and the Boston Celtics while also traveling to the current leaders and only unbeaten side the Cleveland Cavaliers in their first three games of the season the Pistons seemed to have been dealt with very tough fixture list and seemed to be on a road to failure. 

This hectic set of matches was then followed by a trip to the South Beach as they faced the Miami Heat and while they did look to put up a fight the Pistons eventually succumbed to a 106-98 defeat meaning they started the season with a record of 0-4.

In spite of this record the fixtures weren’t still kind to the Michigan side as they faced the Philadelphia 76ers next but in a result that not many were expecting the Pistons came out on top against an injury laden Sixers side and recorded their first win of the season with a 105-95 victory. 

This win was seen as a bookmark in their season with many fans expecting them to start a winning run but unfortunately the Pistons then faced a resurgent Knicks side and in a stellar performance by the New York side the Detroit Pistons were defeated by a score of 128-98.

Despite this loss the Pistons then managed to go on a two-game winning streak against the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers before a loss to the Charlotte Hornets brought them back to reality and have left them with a record of 3 wins and 6 losses. Hopeful of a playoff appearance this season the Pistons will have to do better if they are to be in the post season picture especially with their offensive side of things given that they have been superb on the defensive front.

While the Pistons have had a mixed bag of a season so far, the Houston Rockets on the other hand have been the definition of inconsistent as while they are doing much better than the Detroit side their performances have been very unpredictable especially given that they are more than hopeful of having a deep playoff run after missing out on the play-in places by a small margin last season. 

Having started their season off with a loss to the Charlotte Hornets at home the Houston Rockets seemed to be sluggish in their season opener but a win against the Memphis Grizzlies re-established their playoff ambitions before another loss to their state rivals in the San Antonio Spurs left them with an inconsistent record and with a lot of desire to show what they are really capable of.

After this loss to the Spurs the Rockets quickly avenged their defeat by beating the San Antonio side in their very next fixture and then going on a two-game winning run as they defeated the reigning Western Conference champions in the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 108-102.

While many expected them to go on a run given how well they played against the Mavericks, an overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors made sure that this didn’t occur and meant they now had a 3-3 record and would have to wait a little more to get their first three game winning streak this season. 

Despite losing to the Warriors and ending their winning streak the Rockets quickly started another streak right after as they beat the New York Knicks in a 109-97 win at home before getting their second win of the season against the San Antonio Spurs in their third meeting against one another this season. Currently in fourth place and 3-games behind the Western Conference leaders the Rockets will be hoping to stay in the race and will require a win against the Pistons to do so.

With both teams having good defensive records in their respective conferences with the Houston Rockets conceding 106.6 points per game while the Detroit Pistons are currently conceding 109.3 points per game in the East it is their offensive game that they both will need to step up as the Rockets are averaging 113.8 points while the Pistons have a horrendous total of 106.3 points in nine games. 

Apart from their offensive totals being quite low their dependency on their star players has been a major issue for the two sides as the Pistons have only had Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham as their highest scorers in every game they have played while Jalen Green was his team’s highest scorer in each of their first five games. 

This dependency on stars has been a major problem for both the sides and will require their other team members to do better if they are to go further this season. With that being said the bettors should expect good odds from these particular slips with the team total being a good attraction for a good bet.
