Adelaide Strikers Women Preview

The Adelaide Strikers Women finished the group stage unbeaten with four wins, making them the only team to remain undefeated. Three of their four wins came while batting first, where they defended scores of 140 in the last match against the Brisbane Heat Women, 144 against the Sixers Women before that, and 166 against the Hurricanes Women. The only time they bowled first was against the Scorchers Women, where they conceded 182 runs and chased it down in 19.2 overs.

Madeline Penna, much like last season, has dominated with the bat this season, smashing 186 runs in 4 matches at a strike rate of 151.21, averaging 62, and scoring two half-centuries. She has also made an impact with the ball, picking up six wickets. Emma de Broughe has also been among the runs at the top of the order, scoring 109 runs in 4 matches.

Eleanor Larosa, batting in the top order, has scored 83 runs in 3 matches and has also been one of the key bowlers, taking six wickets. Four of their top six batters this season are striking at more than 120, which makes them one of the strongest and most powerful batting lineups.

Maggie Ellen Clark and Amanda-Jade Wellington picked up four wickets each with the ball. While bowling second, the Strikers picked up an average of 9 wickets per match. A lot of credit goes to the way they build pressure between overs 6 and 10, preventing opponent batters from getting going, before bringing in their main bowlers from overs 11 to 15 and picking up wickets during this phase.

Adelaide Strikers Women Predicted Playing XI:

Emma de Broughe,, Elizabeth Worthley, Kate Peterson, Madeline Penna, Bridget Patterson (wk), Ellie Johnston, Eleanor Larosa, Amanda-Jade Wellington (c), Courtney Neale, Isabella Malgioglio, Maggie Ellen Clark

Perth Scorchers Women Preview

The Perth Scorchers Women, on the flip side, have had an up-and-down season so far. They began the season strongly with a six-wicket win over the Renegades chasing 140, then lost to the Strikers, failing to defend 183. However, they bounced back well against the Hurricanes with a 30-run victory defending 167 runs.

In their last league match, they suffered an eight-wicket loss against the Thunder Women, where they were bowled out for a paltry 92. Despite the huge loss, they managed to eke past the Renegades and Stars Women on net run rate to advance to the semi-finals.

Opener Katie Mack has provided starts in every match and has scored 170 runs in 4 matches so far, averaging 42.50 and striking at 155.96; she has two 50+ scores this season. Ines McKeon has had an average season opening the batting with 78 runs in 4 matches.

Mikayla Hinkley has been the stabilizer at number 3 with 145 runs in 4 matches. Barring the top three, none of the other batters have even scored 50 runs in the season, which has been a major concern for them and has led to batting collapses after a good start in the powerplay overs; they struggled the most between overs 10 and 15.

In the bowling department, Amy Edgar has been the most impactful bowler with five wickets, while Lilly Mills has chipped in with four wickets. The seamers have struggled largely, especially Chloe Ainsworth and Ruby Strange.

Perth Scorchers Women Predicted Playing XI:

Ines McKeon, Katie Mack, Mikayla Hinkley, Chloe Piparo (c), Chloe Ainsworth, Alyssa Dermody (wk), Lilly Mills, Taneale Peschel, Amy Edgar, Shay Manolini, Ebony Hoskin

Toss Prediction: Perth Scorchers Women to win the coin toss

The Adelaide Strikers Women enter this contest as the favourites to win; they are the only unbeaten side this season, which includes a win over the Scorchers Women in the league stage. The Strikers have depth in both batting and bowling, with everyone in form, whereas the Scorchers Women are more dependent on their top three and their bowlers have not been at their best. Considering all this, we are backing the Adelaide Strikers Women to win this match and advance to the final.
