Afghanistan U19 Preview

Mahboob Khan will be upset with his team's performance in the last game against Sri Lanka U19. They batted poorly, scoring only 193 runs and eventually losing by 4 wickets. They are still in contention for a berth in the semifinal and need to win this game by a big margin. They have an exciting group of players, and Khan would like to get the best performance from them. 

Osman Sadat has been in good form in recent games and will look to deliver a strong start alongside Khalid Ahmadzai. Faisal Shinozada must improve his strike rate at No. 3 and build partnerships with Uzairullah Niazai and Mahboob Khan. Azizullah Miakhil is a powerful hitter, and he will look to add quick runs in the death overs with Khatir Stanikzai.  

The bowling attack put up a strong fight in the last game while defending a small total. The team expects Wahidullah Zadran and Abdul Aziz to strike early and put the opponents on the backfoot. They performed poorly with the bat in the last game against West Indies U19, losing by 25 runs. Riley would like a better show from his players as they pull down the curtains to their campaign. 

James West and Freddie Ogilby must build a strong platform at the top as early wickets have hurt the team in past games. Robert O'Brien, Sebastian Dijkstra, and Adam Leckey have struggled in the middle order, and the team expects a better show from them. Oliver Riley and Marko Bates must add quick runs in the lower middle order.
