The Baroda Premier League continues with the second fixture of the evening as runners-up Ami Super Avengers lock horns with A4 Power Strikers in Match 2 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Monday.
The Avengers enter the competition as the team to beat, finishing second last in the BPL 2025. Their journey to the final saw them navigate a challenging path, ultimately losing to Alembic Warriors by four wickets. Under the astute leadership of Atit Sheth, the Avengers have retained their core while making strategic additions to further strengthen a squad that already boasts explosive batting depth and a varied bowling attack.
A4 Power Strikers, meanwhile, will be eager to go one better than their 2025 campaign, which ended in the Eliminator at the hands of Pruthvi Panthers. Led by an experienced core, they have the firepower to challenge any opposition and will view this opening fixture as an opportunity to make an early statement against the defending champions.

The Ami Super Avengers had a successful run in the Baroda Premier League 2025. They went agonisingly close to the title last year, falling to Alembic Warriors by just one run in the Qualifier 1, before the rain-curtailed Qualifier 2 squeezed them into the final on NRR, where they were eventually dismissed for 109 and lost by four wickets.
The squad is built around one of the most remarkable individual performers in domestic T20 cricket. Captain Atit Sheth was simply unbeatable in 2025, finishing as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 279 runs and its leading wicket-taker with 18 scalps in the same season, a genuinely rare double. He also struck 26 sixes in the tournament, the most of any batter in the competition.
Jyotsnil Singh is the complementary threat at the top. The right-hander registered the highest individual score in last year's tournament with a blazing 93, and alongside Sheth gives the Avengers one of the most destructive opening combinations in the league. Deep Kheni, who was identified as a key top-order batter in the 2025 edition with 205 runs, adds further experience in the upper middle order.
The bowling retains good variety, with medium pacers Irfan Shaikh and Babasafi Pathan likely to share the new ball duties, while Aryan Chvada and Priyanshu Bhoite can offer spin through the middle overs. Shivam Bhardwaj and Vaibhav Brahmbhatt add lower-order firepower.

The A4 Power Strikers made the knockout stages of the inaugural Baroda Premier League in 2025 but came unstuck at the first hurdle, bowled out for just 104 in the Eliminator as Pruthvi Panthers wrapped up the chase inside 12 overs. That early exit, despite finishing among the top three sides in the league stage, will be the motivating memory driving this squad into Season 2.
The batting is anchored by Shivalik Sharma, who was the top run-scorer for the Strikers in 2025, with 184 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 177. He gives the Strikers genuine firepower in the middle order. Sharma is a recognised Baroda Ranji player who was picked up by Mumbai Indians, bringing proper first-class pedigree to what is otherwise a largely local squad.
Harsh Desai adds another destructive dimension, scoring 168 runs last season in eight innings at a strike rate of 162. Captain Vishnu Solanki has the ability to provide the finishing touch at the back end of the innings, as he showed last season, striking at almost 187. A long-serving Baroda wicketkeeper-batter, Solanki is known for his helicopter shot, which he has said he developed specifically to counter yorkers in T20 death overs, making him a genuine game-changer in the final five overs.
The bowling attack is where the questions lie. Abhishek Swaminathan's 5-14 was the best bowling figure of the entire 2025 tournament, though he is not in the 2026 squad. Karan Umatt and Keyur Kale must fill that void, while Amit Pasi and Gaurav Chaudhary offer support. Parikshit Patidar provides a spin option in the middle overs.

The forecast for Vadodara on Monday evening is generally favourable for cricket. Temperatures are expected to be around 28-30°C (82-86°F) at the start of play, dropping to approximately 24-26°C (75-79°F) by the close. Humidity levels will be moderate, with minimal chances of rainfall predicted. The skies are expected to remain mostly clear, with good visibility throughout the match window. The Kotambi Stadium, located on the outskirts of Vadodara, often experiences light breezes that can assist swing bowling in the early overs. Overall, conditions are ideal for a full, uninterrupted T20 contest.
One of India's newest cricket grounds, the Kotambi Stadium, only opened its doors in December 2024, which means data is still limited. What exists, however, paints a very clear picture: this is a batter's ground, and the numbers from the Baroda Premier League's first edition back that up emphatically.
The average first innings score in T20 matches at the venue sits at around 150 to 160, but the BPL 2025 scores suggest the ground regularly yields far more when conditions are right. A4 Power Strikers posted 201 for 6 here against Diamond Dazzlers in last year's league stage, and Ami Super Avengers put up 213 for 4 in the tournament opener. The boundaries at Kotambi are short on both sides, with 60 metres on one side, 51 on the other, and 61 straight, making big hitting extremely rewarding.
Dew tends to play a significant role under lights, making batting noticeably easier in the second innings, which is a crucial factor for the toss. Both sides will be eyeing a chase. Any total under 170 here should be considered chaseable, and anything above 190 a genuine challenge.
The evening match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST at the Kotambi Stadium. Based on the last 10 completed T20 matches at this venue, no major toss advantage has been observed, with both batting first and chasing producing competitive results. With evening dew occasionally becoming a factor in Vadodara, the captain who wins the toss may consider bowling first to keep the target within a chaseable range.
This is a contest between a side with a proven match-winner and one that is still searching for its identity in the format's biggest moments. Atit Sheth finished last season as the tournament's leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker simultaneously, a combination that no individual in the A4 Power Strikers camp comes close to matching. When one player can influence a game with both bat and ball, the opposition needs to be firing on all cylinders to compensate, and the Strikers' Eliminator exit in 2025 showed they are not yet consistent enough under pressure.
Ami Super Avengers won the only league meeting between these two sides last season by 26 runs, and the gulf in individual quality has not narrowed significantly. The dew factor at Kotambi under lights will suit the chasing side, and the Avengers' batting depth, led by Sheth and Deep Kheni, makes them better equipped to accelerate in the back end of an innings regardless of the conditions.
Ami Super Avengers to win.
