Bengal Women were defeated in a thrilling encounter against Madhya Pradesh Women at VCA Stadium, Civil Lines, Nagpur. Skipper Mita Paul will be disappointed after the bowlers failed to control the flow of runs in the death overs.
Rajasthan, on the other hand, have kicked off with a win against Pondicherry. Though their approach in the run chase was cautious, and they reached the 98-run target in the 19th over, they lost only two wickets on their way to victory.
Bengal’s Dhara Gujjar was off to a decent start but failed to convert it into something more significant. Their star middle-order batter Tanusree Sarkar also struggled to play her natural game and score at a strike rate she’s known for.
Jyoti Choudhary will be delighted with her team’s all-around performance in the opening game. Suman Meena and Sonal Kalal were the most impactful bowlers for Rajasthan Women, and will be the ones to watch out for at this venue as well.

A venue change could explain Bengal’s lacklustre performance in their opening game of the 2025 Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. Mita Paul is leading the side this year and will expect her key batters like Dhara Gujjar and Tanusree Sarkar to find their form early in the league.
The top order players are crucial to Bengal’s success with the bat. Last year, the batters consistently delivered brilliant knocks that kept Bengal Women on top of the game in almost every outing.
Though Sarkar was the second highest scorer in the last game, with Paul leading the charts with her 39 off 34 balls knock, Sarkar’s strike rate will be a concern.
This pitch doesn’t offer a lot of help for the batters and is on the slower side. As such, the roles of Bengal’s star batters from last year will be revised, and the expectations will also be different.
Sasthi Mondal and wicket-keeper Priyanka Bala aren’t the best in business, but will be crucial in the lower order to score some quick runs at the death to propel Bengal to a more competitive score.
Losing to a strong side like MP wouldn’t be as disappointing, but to lose from a position of strength raises some concerns over their bowling ability. The trio of Titas Sadhu, Saika Ishaque, and Sushmita will be crucial in delivering regular breakthroughs for Bengal Women.

Like the opposition, Rajasthan too have a new captain this year. The captaincy has changed hands from Sumitra Jat to wicket-keeper Jyoti Choudhary, a strong and reliable middle-order batter.
Jat will be glad with the start she delivered in the run chase. Her unbeaten 43-run knock was crucial in giving Rajasthan their first win of the season. Jat’s opening partner, Ayushi Garg, was also impressive, scoring 26 off 24 balls with 3 fours and a six in her inning.
There have been some major changes to the batting department this year. Many of their key figures in the middle order didn’t feature in the last game. Some new faces like C O Bhati and Dimple Kanwar made it to the number 3 and 4 spots.
Babita Meena and Kaushalya Choudhary were among the key middle-order players who delivered consistent performances last year. While Kaushalya isn’t part of the squad this year, B Meena will make an appearance in the XI later in the season.
In the absence of those two, skipper Jyoti Choudhary will be the one tasked with finishing responsibilities in this batting order. Yana Verma and all-rounder Suman Meena follow in the lower middle order and can be handy with the bat.
In the bowling department, Suman Meena was exceptional against Pondicherry with 1 for 8 from 4 Overs. Akshita Maheshwari and Sonal Kalal are other key wicket-takers in this bowling attack.

It will be a clear and sunny day with a high of 31 degrees Celsius in Nagpur. There are no signs of rain or cloud around the game time, and we expect a complete and uninterrupted game of cricket between these two strong teams.

The pitch at the VCA Stadium offers an even contest between the two teams but has historically been on the slower side. There is plenty of help for the batters, and if they apply themselves well, they can post a very competitive total on this ground. The average first innings score in the last 10 matches here is 163 runs, but in this game, if the team batting first scores 135 or more runs, it will be in a winning position.
Teams bowling first have won 3 of the last 6 matches on this ground. Though there is no clear edge for either batting or bowling first here, considering the batting depth in both sides, we reckon they should back themselves to chase down a target in this match.
Bengal Women have a stronger overall squad. And though they suffered a loss in their previous match, they still have the edge in our match prediction. Their top order is pretty solid, and they’ve got a strong bowling attack too. Rajasthan Women will certainly pose a threat with their bowling, but Bengal will hold the upper hand in this contest.
