Brampton Wolves will take on Toronto Nationals at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario as both teams look for another win. Two of the three matches so far have been affected by rain.
Some brilliant batting from Brampton’s opening batsman Aaron Johnson helped them stay ahead of the DLS par score and win by a huge margin. Toronto Nationals, on the other hand, set up a great total batting first in a game reduced to 15 overs each side.
Opener Colin Munro’s unbeaten 78 off 45 balls was the big impact performance for Toronto with the bat. Bowlers in both teams have shown great promise.
Fazalhaq Farooqi and Gerhard Erasmus will be the key bowlers in Toronto’s bowling attack while Frylinck and Logan van Beek will be ones to watch out for in the Wolves’ lineup.
Both teams have a similar-looking setup with some experienced players in the middle order and all-rounders featuring from number 5 onward. It will be a close contest between the two sides.
Brampton Wolves will be pleased with the winning start to their campaign. However, they batted for only 9 overs which may not be the ideal thing even if they won the game.
The middle-order wasn’t exposed in the last game and this match will be crucial from that standpoint. Mark Chapman is a great addition to the team and will be a key player at number 3.
However, it needs to be seen whether Colin de Grandhomme has still got what it takes to strike the long ball and makes a good fit for number 4. Chris Green, who usually plays much lower in the order for other franchises is likely to bat at number 5 in this side.
Batting all-rounder Hussain Talat is a better choice for the number 5 batsman. He can score quickly and hit some big ones giving the team some momentum as the innings approach the death overs.
Opening batsman Aaron Johnson will be another key batsman to watch out for. Though he hasn’t got plenty of experience, he has a strike rate of 166 in T20Is.
The bowling attack looks solid with Tim Southee leading from the front. Logan van Beek and Jan Frylinck are crucial when it comes to delivering breakthroughs while Chris Green will come in play during the middle overs.

Toronto Nationals defended 151 runs total in a 15-overs game against the mighty Vancouver Knights. It looked like the Knights would run away with the match at one point given the way their key batters were striking the ball.
However, a very economical spell from Faqalhaq Farooqi when the opposition required 10 runs an over proved to be game-changing. The left-arm fast-medium bowler from Afghanistan picked 1 for 16 from his 3 overs.
The right-arm leg break bowler Gerard Erasmus from Namibia picked 2 crucial wickets of Fakhar Zaman and Vritiya Aravind pushing the Knights on the backfoot.
There is a lot of potential in this bowling attack and they will without a doubt pose a tough challenge to the Brampton Wolves. Skipper Hamza Tariq needs to step up his game as an opening batsman for the team.
He’s got the support of Colin Munro on the other end, who was brilliant in the last game. Shahid Afridi who played much lower down the order in other franchises was sent in at number 4 and scored a quickfire 23 off 12 balls.
Much like their opposition, Toronto Nationals also feature many all-rounders in their lineup. Following Afridi at 4, there’s JJ Smit, Gerard Erasmus, and Faheem Ashraf further down the order.
Hamza Tariq (c & wk), Nicholas Kirton, Colin Munro, Gerhard Erasmus, Faheem Ashraf, Shahid Afridi, Saad Bin Zafar, JJ Smit, Zaman Khan, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Sarmad Anwar

It looks like a balanced pitch here at the CAA. There have been some brilliant batting performances and at the same time, the bowlers have delivered exceptional spells too. The weather would be partly cloudy with a high of 25 degrees Celsius.
CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario will hots its 5th match of the season as Wolves take on the Nationals in what is going to be a closely fought contest between two well matched teams. It is a bit tricky to assess what a winning total would be at this venue. However, we reckon, something over 185 should give the bowlers something to defend and fight with.
A majority of games played at this venue have been won by teams chasing a total and it is a very clear choice for both teams. They’ve got deep batting lineups and though Toronto defended successfully in their last game, they’d be more comfortable chasing a total.
The two teams are similar in their composition and have some promising bowlers in their side who will be the key to success in this game. With only a few batters at the top and the rest of the lineup filled with all-rounders, it would be interesting to see what happens when none of the batters at the top fire. Chasing is still the right way to go on this ground and the team winning the toss would have a clear advantage.
Brampton Wolves, with their overall squad strength, seem to have a slight edge over Toronto Nationals and will start as favorites in our match prediction.
