After an absence of nearly two years, the CSA Women's Division Two T20 tournament returns this weekend with this contest between Border Women and Eastern Province Women locking horns in the opener.
It's great to see this fixture scheduled on a weekend and over lunchtime which should mean plenty of families and even future women's cricketers could be in the crowd.
There will of course be nerves on both sides, as is always the case at the start of any competition so do not be surprised if the opening overs for both sides are littered with mistakes.
Both teams will want to win though, and these look like well matched teams.
Border Women will be hoping that home advantage gives them a boost in this game and they certainly have a powerful batting line-up for this opening fixture.
Of course, with the Women's World Cup well underway in India and Sri Lanka, with South Africa one of the top four teams, Border Women will not be at full strength but they will still be able to put out a strong team.
Expect skipper Geneveve Fritz to open the innings alongside Siyamanga Mhletywa with S Copiso likely to be the 'finisher' charged with hitting late runs in the innings.
With the ball, S Fawuli is a tricky bowler to get away while Sisipho Siswana will be used as a strike-bowler.
Geneveve Fritz (c), Siyamanga Mhletywa, Khufelwa Soka, K Pinini (wk), Sisipho Siswana, S Copiso, Liyema Jubati, A Mdlalani, S Fawuli, Giane Hartzenberg, C Mhlubulwane
This Eastern Province Women squad should have enough with both bat and ball to return home from East London with the win in this opener but the team will be taking nothing for granted.
With the bat, Luna Grana is often not the quickest T20 batter but she is very consistent and will not throw her wicket away during this game. Alongside Grana at the top of the order, expect Monique Ferreira, the keeper-batter, to play the aggressor.
There are also plenty of runs to come from the middle and lower-order batters like J Cole and M Ngxande.
With the ball, expect J Cole, Leanne Glass and Megan Fourie to be the chief threat.
Monique Ferreira (wk), Luna Gana, S Koloi, Siphokazi Nazo (c), Megan Fourie, Chene Arnolds, Leanne Glass, J Cole, M Ngxande, Aphilile Adonis, T January
The weather forecast is for very humid conditions throughout Sunday in East London. There could even be a rain interruption with the temperature likely to be in the high teens throughout.
Buffalo Park has long been a venue where there is good pace in the wicket and batters get full value for their shots. We predict a par total will be in the region of 120.
Both teams look slightly fallible in the batting department so our prediction is that both skippers will go out for the toss looking to bowl first on Sunday.
As with any opening game of a tournament, there will be an element of the unknown and both sides may take time to find their rhythm in the fixture. Our prediction is for a close contest with Eastern Province getting the victory.
