Anju Gurung led Bhutan Women, who performed exceedingly well in the opening match of the series against Malaysia. But following that, they suffered a defeat to Hong Kong Women in their previous match.
Bhutan's decision to bowl first didn't go in their favour. Despite an early breakthrough, they allowed Hong Kong Women to build their innings, and they eventually scored 174 runs. In response, Bhutan could only score 110/7 in 20 overs, as Bhutan’s batters failed to score at a quick run rate.
The top-order trio for Bhutan Women put in their valiant effort. Openers Ngawang Choden and Karma Dema scored 10 & 19 runs, respectively. Sonam Paldon scored 28 runs at three. But the problem was Bhutan seriously lacked firepower in their batting, as no one could even touch a 110+ strike rate except for Sonam Choden, who scored 28 runs off 25 balls.
With the ball, Sonam Choden got the wicket of Natasha Miles early, but the Bhutanese women bowlers failed to take advantage of that. Ritshi Choden was the team’s top wicket-taker in the match with 2 wickets, while the trio of Anju Gurung, Sonam Choden and Tshering Zangmo got one wicket each.

The 26th-ranked Malaysia Women suffered a surprise defeat against Bhutan Women in the opening match. Following that, they also lost to Hong Kong Women in their 2nd match and are still the only team without a win in the Bhutan Women's T20I Tri-Series 2026.
In their previous match against Hong Kong Women, Malaysia suffered a 51-run defeat. They could only score 112/9 in pursuit of a 164-run target.
Ainna Hamizah Hashim was the best batter for the Malaysia Women, as she scored 31 runs off 31 balls. But she didn't receive great support from the other end, as Malaysia lost wickets at regular intervals. Nur Dania Syuhada played an important knock-down role as she scored 26 runs. It was not a great effort with the bat from the Malaysian side, as only four batters were able to touch the double-digit scores.
It was not a great day with the ball either for the Malaysian side. On the slow pitch at the Gelephu International Stadium, where early wickets are important, Malaysian bowlers struggled to take wickets at all in the game. They only managed to take 3 wickets in the match, one each for Nur Natsya and Mas Elysa.
Mas Elysa is the team’s top wicket-taker in the series with 3 wickets, while Nur Arianna Natsya and Nur Dania Syuhada have 2 wickets each to their name.

The weather forecast in Gelephu on matchday is going to be sunny. It has been bright sunshine over the last few days in Gelephu. The temperature is going to be high at 22°C and low at 14°C. It won't be very humid during the match, and there is a 0% probability of precipitation; there is no threat of rain during the match.
The Gelephu International Cricket Stadium in Gelephu, Bhutan, offers a balanced surface, but a little bit on the slower side. Normally the pitch is at its best in the first inning and then slows down in the 2nd inning, making it difficult to chase scores beyond 130. Bowlers with the ability to bowl change of pace and spin bowlers would like to bowl on this pitch.
The average first-inning score at the venue is 145. The highest total is 174 runs by Hong Kong Women vs Bhutan, while the lowest is 78. The highest total that has been chased at the venue is 100.
Despite the last two matches at the venue being won by the team batting first, there has been a clear pattern. Captains win the toss and opt to bowl first, hoping to restrict below 130, then try to control the pace of the chase with a target on the board. Totals beyond 140-150 can be difficult to chase, as seen in the previous two matches.
Bhutan Women did shock the Malaysia Women in the first match of the series; however, Bhutan’s lack of power-hitting has been exposed. Malaysia has bowlers who can use the change of pace very well, with the likes of Mas Elysa, Nur Natsya, and Nur Syuhada in great form. Malaysian batters, meanwhile, are capable of striking the ball with a good strike rate. Therefore, Malaysia are going into this match as favourites.
