Boubyan Warriors Development head into the contest on the back of a six-wicket loss to Pearl Strikers. They posted a competitive total of 168 runs, but the Strikers chased down the target with seven balls to spare. Nasir Hussain top-scored with 37 off 20 balls, while Usman Ghani contributed 36 off 22. At one stage, the Strikers were struggling at 89/4 in the 12th over, but Ansal Nazzar stepped up and guided them across the line after missing out in the previous game.

Earlier, the defending champions made a winning start to the 2026 edition with a four-run victory over Failaika Guardians in a rematch of the 2025 final. The Warriors posted a huge total of 207 runs in the first game, with Mohammed Aslam and Bilal Tahir scoring half-centuries. The Guardians smashed three consecutive sixes in the final over of their innings, but Boubyan held their nerve to secure a narrow victory in the opener.

The Warriors finished second in the points table last year with three wins and three defeats. It was an impressive campaign as they qualified for the final and eventually lifted the trophy after pulling off a major upset.

Bilal Tahir could be a player to watch out for. He was the Warriors' leading run-scorer last season, scoring 209 runs at a strike rate of 197.17. He has already accumulated 87 runs in two innings in the 2026 edition. He scored 75 off 25 balls against Kuwait in their last meeting so he would eye to replicate the same show.

Mohammed Aslam also scored 192 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 150 last season and opened this year's campaign with a match-winning half-century. He has also picked up four wickets in two matches. With the ball, Mohammad Aqif remains their standout performer, having taken 13 wickets in the tournament last season. He was the highest wicket-taker of the competition.

Their highest individual score was 26, making it a complete batting failure for the Falcons. They will now look to return to winning ways when they take on the defending champions.

Earlier, the Falcons secured a hard-fought three-run victory over Pearl Strikers. Batting first, they posted 188 runs, with Ummer Abbas leading the way with a match-winning 83. The victory also avenged their defeat to the Strikers in last season's third-place playoff. The Falcons endured a disappointing campaign in the inaugural ILT20 Development Tournament Kuwait, finishing at the bottom of the table with two wins from six matches.

Clinto Anto could be a player to watch out for. He was the Falcons' leading run-scorer last season, scoring 216 runs at a strike rate of 177. He contributed 41 runs in the opening game and also has a century against Boubayan Warriors Development.

Captain Yasin Patel also made a valuable contribution last year, scoring 192 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 160. Ummer Abbas has already produced his best performance of the season, smashing a match-winning 83 in the opening game. With the ball, Dhaksh Lakshman was their standout performer last season, taking six wickets in the tournament.
