It is Game No 6 at the Bangladesh Premier League 2022, and the Chattogram Challengers would be taking on the Khulna Tigers. The Challengers who had started with a loss in the tournament turned it around to win against Minister Group Dhaka in their last game. The Khulna Tigers registered a big win against the same side in their opening game. 

Khulna Tigers showed their batting prowess in their opening game, and this would be a massive challenge for the Chattogram Challengers. The Challengers have some of their batsmen looking rusty right now and they will have to overcome this. It’s still early days in the tournament and we expect to see a close contest here.

Mehidy Hasan’s side has made a strong comeback into the tournament after the poor show with the bat in the 1st game. They won by 30 runs against Minister Group Dhaka banking on a good batting performance. Khulna Tigers are also looking in good form and Hasan would like his team to play positive cricket in this game and register a big win.  

Kennar Lewis has missed out in both the games and the side would need a good show from him and Will Jacks opening the batting. Sabbir Rahman and Afif Hossain contributed in the last game and the same would be expected from them here. They have good hitters of the ball in Hasan, Benny Howell, and Shamim Hossain and they would have to deliver the goods in the final overs. 

Nasum Ahmed has done well with the new ball and he would look to trouble the Khulna batsmen along with Hasan. Shoriful Islam produced a match-winning performance in the last game and this would add to his confidence. With Howell, Mukidul Islam, and Naeem Islam on the side, they have a strong bowling attack.

Khulna Tigers Preview

Mushfiqur Rahim would be happy with the start his side has made. They won by 5 wickets in a high-scoring game against Minister Group Dhaka. The skipper would be slightly worried about the form of his bowlers and expect a better performance from them in this game. The Challengers wouldn’t be the easiest sides to beat. 

Andre Fletcher played a good knock in the last game and he would like to set up a good opening wicket stand with Tanzid Hasan. Rony Talukdar looks in good form and he would aim at partnerships with Rahim and Yasir Ali. In Thisara Perera, Farhad Reza, and Mahedi Hasan the side has good hitters to follow. 

Their bowlers had a bad day in the last game and a better show would be needed from them here. Naveen-ul-Haq did well and he would have to inflict early damages with Hasan. Perara also showed good experience in the last game. However, the side would expect a better show from Kamrul Islam and Reza.

There would slightly cloudy sky over Dhaka on January 24. The wicket would be flat and we expect to see lots of runs being scored here. Batsmen would be able to play on the up and score runs easily on this track. The side batting first would need over 170 runs to defend with dew in the evening.

Venue Details

We have seen high-scoring games played at Shere Bangla National Stadium this season. It is one ground where the batsmen love to play their strokes as the ball comes into the bat pretty nicely. The shorter square boundaries also help their cause. Fast bowlers have struggled here in the past but spinners do well.
