A win here would secure the Qualifier 1 berth for CSK. This will be their last home game of the season as they prepare to take on KKR. They’ve won their last two consecutive matches at this venue.
The pitch hasn’t been a flat one like the earlier games played here. Bowlers have found success in the low-scoring matches recently. CSK successfully defended 167 against DC in their last outing.
Kolkata Knight Riders lost a must-win game at their home venue against RR. It seemed a difficult track to bat on as KKR finished with just 149 runs batting first. However, the opposition chased it down with 41 balls to spare.
KKR will find it even more challenging to score runs if the Chepauk pitch continues to help the spinners. Though KKR also have some good spinners, CSK will be on top with the ball on a slowish pitch against an inconsistent KKR lineup.
It will be a farewell right out of a movie if MSD and co. manage to win the title this season. Dhoni has been brilliant this season as a captain and a finisher.
He hasn’t got the best or the most experienced bowling attack. But he’s still managed to get his team to number 2 in the points table. MI has a brilliant batting lineup with many big-hitting T20 specialists.
Yet, when they came to Chepauk, CSK restricted them to just 139-8 bowling first. Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, and Pathirana have been successful and look promising with the ball.
In the batting department, Shivam Dube continues to carry his momentum and form and play with intent. Even when others wouldn’t find it easy to score the boundaries, Dube managed to up the ante with a few sixes and quick fire innings.
MS Dhoni also looks in fine touch and can deliver a good finish in the last 3-4 overs. Devon Conway has been in fine touch this season at the top. Both him and his opening partner can adapt well to the conditions and play a handy knock.
Pathirana has picked 8 wickets in the last 3 games. Prior to these 3 matches, CSK had lost two back to back matches where the bowlers failed at the death. Pathirana is a very crucial cog in this bowling attack and his form makes a big impact on the CSK’s chances.

Two back to back wins kept KKR alive in the competition and then they faced the mighty Royals on their home turf where they’ve been pretty disappointing this season.
Jason Roy and Gurbaz will be crucial for a win here. The opposition haven’t got many experienced pacers and Roy can go after them in the powerplay and set a platform for others to build on.
Nitish Rana is a good batter who hasn’t been in great form. But he has delivered a good knock here and there, especially when KKR needed to rebuild the innings.
Rinku Singh has been the big find for KKR this season but his strike rate has varied a great deal. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh are in the finisher’s role and need a good platform set by the top and middle order.
If Russell comes on early in the innings, though he may have many deliveries to play, he is not going to stay on the crease for long. A quick fire innings from Russell would be useful at the death.
It is Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana who need to make major contributions in the middle overs, building a partnership at a healthy run rate. The likes of Chakravarthy and Narine will play a key role on this ground with their spin.

The pitch was flat for most of the season and we witnessed some high-scoring games and even a 200-run total was chased down successfully. Lately, it has been slow and spinners have managed to get some help from the surface. The weather will be partly cloudy and as such there may not be any dew later in the night.
MA Chidambaram Stadium will be the venue for the last home game of CSK this season. If CSK manage to reach Qualifier 1, they will be back here to play that match as well. The dimensions of the ground aren’t too big and batters can easily clear the boundaries and hit many sixes. A 185+ total would be a match-winning score if the pitch has pace and bounce.
Teams batting first have won 3 of the 6 matches played at Chepauk this season. The pitch has been on the slower side in recent games and teams would be comfortable defending a total in such conditions.
CSK are just one win away from securing their Qualifier 1 berth. The home team are in great form and the pitch conditions in recent matches have been ideal for their bowling attack. They would likely go with the same pitch given how powerful KKR batting is and on a good batting surface, KKR can wreak havoc. Considering the inconsistency in the KKR lineup and the home team’s current form, we reckon CSK has the upper hand in this contest.
