It is game no. 14 at the Indian Premier League 2020 and the Chennai Super Kings now in a spot of bother would be taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Super Kings have lost the last two games and find themselves at the bottom of the points table which is a new for the side. The Sunrisers Hyderabad comes into this contest after a good win against the Delhi Capitals which will add to their confidence. 

The Chennai Super Kings have a great record against Sunrisers and they have won the last five out of six games played between the two sides. This will act as a morale booster for the two time title winners. Hyderabad played well as a unit in the last game and they would look to move up on the points table with a win in this game. With little to choose between the two sides at the moment it is expected to be a cracker of a contest.

It isn’t often that MS Dhoni’s side has found itself at the bottom of the points table in the past twelve seasons of the tournament. But after the promising start against the Mumbai Indians it has been a downhill ride for the Men in Yellow. They lost against the Delhi Capitals by 44 runs in the last game in what was another disastrous effort on the part of their batsmen. They have a good record against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Dhoni would want his side to take inspiration from that in this game. 

Openers Shane Watson and Murali Vijay haven’t really been in the best of their form and the side would be expecting a good start from them in this game. Faf du Plessis has done well and the side would be hoping to see the return of Ambati Rayudu which will strengthen the middle order where Kedar Jadhav has done well. In Sam Curran, Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja they have good hitters down the order and these players will need to hit form which has been one of the concerns for the team. 

Sam Curran and Deepak Chahar haven’t quite provided the start the side has been looking for in the last two games and they would be expected to do where here with the new ball. Josh Hazlewood looked impressive in the last game and the side will be expecting a similar show from him. Piysh Chawla and Jadeja need to hold their ends tight as they looked unimpressive in the last game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview

David Warner’s side finally managed its first win of the season after successive losses. It was a good team effort from the side where they defeated the in-form Delhi Capitals by 15 runs in the game. The side still has some issues to sort out with the bat in the middle order but Warner would like to carry the confidence from this game into the next one. The Hyderabad skipper would look to exploit his opponent’s drop in form and earn their second win of the season. 

At the top Warner and Jonny Bairstow are looking in good form after their match winning stand in the last game. Kane Williamson made a good start to the tournament in the last game and along with Manish Pandey makes this middle order formidable. It is lower down the order that the side suffers from lack of experience and they would rely on Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad to do the big hitting in the next game.  

It was an impressive show from their bowlers in the last game that guided them to a win. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled extremely well with the new ball along with Khaleel Ahmed and T Natarajan. Ahmed will look to tighten his line ahead of the next game. But the side would take confidence from the performance of Rashid Khan in the last game. He is their leading bowler and looks at his best going into this contest.

It will be a warm and humid afternoon with late evening dew on October 02 at Dubai. The track has so far been a good one to bat on where the ball has come onto the bat nicely. Batsmen have been able to play their strokes easily. Fast bowlers have struggled on this surface. The side that bats first here would need to target a score in range of 170 runs to feel comfortable on this surface.

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium is a large sized stadium which makes it little harder for the batsmen to clear the fence. The track is a good one to bat on and the outfield is also extremely fast. Fast bowlers have struggled on this surface as there is little assistance for them. Spinners do well here as the larger boundaries come to their aid with lots of catching in the outfield.
