With half of the first Women’s IPL over, Delhi Capitals Women are looking forward to strengthening their top spot. The 11th match of the WPL 2023 will be played between DC Women and RCB Women at Dr. D Y Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, on 13th March from 7:30 pm onwards. RCB women must win all their remaining 4 games to qualify for the finals.
RCB Women have lost all their games this season so far. In the last game against UP Warriors Women, RCB women put 138 runs on the board. Ellyse Perry scored her first half-century of the WPL. UP Warriors’ Alyssa Healy scored 96 off 47 deliveries to hand over a 10-wicket defeat to the RCB Women. RCB Women are currently at the last spot in the points table with a negative run rate of 2.648.
Marizanne Kapp and Shafali Verma slayed Gujarat Giants Women with their individual performances. Kapp took the first fifer of the WPL 2023 for just 15 runs. Shikha Pandey also took 3 wickets to restrict GG Women to 105. Skipper Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma took DC Women to win their 3rd game by 10 wickets in just 7.1 overs. Verma scored 76 runs at a strike rate of 271.43. Her innings included 10 fours and 5 sixes.
RCB women played DCW in their first game of the season. Lanning (72) and Verma (84) scored half-centuries to set a target of 224 for RCB Women. Heather Knight was the only successful bowler from RCBW with 2 wickets. RCBW couldn’t handle the pressure set by DCW and lost the game by 60 runs. Skipper Smriti Mandhana was the leading run-scorer from the RCBW camp with 35 runs.
It’s been a marvelous ride for DC Women so far. Except for the loss against the table toppers Mumbai Indians WOmen, they have shown their power against every other team. DC Women’s openers are currently at the top of the runs table. Skipper Meg Lanning has scored 206 runs in 4 games with 2 half-centuries. On the other hand, Shafali Verma has 179 runs with 2 fifties. Verma has a strike rate of 192.47 and has hit 10 sixes - the most by a player in WPL 2023.
All-rounder Marizanne Kapp, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Jess Jonassen in the middle give DCW enough strength to survive any attack. Though the middle order is not exposed much this season, all of them have performed well when facing opponents. Rodrigues has 81 runs in 3 innings played so far at a strike rate of 147.27. If the top-order fails, Jonassen’s strike rate of 191.30 will be enough for DCW to tackle RCBW. Kapp has been impressive with both bat and ball. She has 57 runs in 3 innings, including 39 off 17 balls against RCBW. Kapp took 5 wickets against GG Women in the last game.
Tara Norris will lead the bowling attack with Kapp and Shikha Pandey. Norris had a fifer against RCBW in the first game. She is the joint leading wicket-taker for DCW with 6 wickets. To add a cherry on top, Norris has a wicket every 8 balls she has bowled. Pandey has 5 wickets in 4 games at an economy of 7.13.
Key Players: Shafali Verm, Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp.

One thing that hasn’t changed so far with RCB is that no matter if they have big names in the team, they don’t find the correct sauce to win the games. With 4 losses, skipper Mandhana will be low on confidence. She hasn’t clicked well with the bat too. Mandhana has 80 runs in 4 games. Sophie Devine will be our choice for the top batter from RBW camp. Devine has 132 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 145.05.
Ellyse Perry has to lead the underperforming middle order. Perry has scored 128 runs with one half-century at a strike rate of 142.22. But the all-rounder failed to perform with the ball. Perry hasn’t taken a wicket after bowling 10 overs. Heather Knight is another big name who hasn’t played as per expectations. Though her strike rate is 188.57, she has scored only 66 runs.
RCBW’s bowling unit hasn’t given much to write about. Knight is their leading wicket-taker with 4 wickets. But Mandhana hasn’t utilized her much in 4 games. With Renuka Chaudhary and Ellyse Perry not taking wickets, Mandhana should bowl Knight more often. One big blow for RCBW is their leading wicket-taker going for runs. Renuka Chaudhary has given 108 runs in 12 overs and has taken just one wicket.
Key Players: Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine

The weather will be partly cloudy. The temperature will range between 27 and 36°C. The wind will be flowing from the west at 9-17 kmh. The wicket has produced some high-scoring games in recent times. The green top gives some bounce to pacers in the early stages. Overall it’s a batting pitch.
The 11th T20 will be played at Dr. D Y Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, on 13th March from 7:30 pm onwards. The venue holds a capacity of 60000 spectators and has hosted 2 T20WIs so far. Australia Women has registered the highest total (187) at this venue.
The team batting second in the 5 T20s of WPL2023 has chased the target on 3 occasions. Delhi has won 2 out of the three games played at this venue. The last two games have shown chasing targets will be an ideal choice. The team winning the toss should bowl first.
DC Women are on the top of their game with three wins in four games. Openers Lanning and Verma lead the run scorer’s chart. They have a two hundred-and-one-fifty-run partnership in 4 games played together. They have already beaten RCBW by a big margin. On the other hand, RCB Women are struggling to score runs and take wickets. Their key players are underperforming, costing them all four games.
We predict that Delhi Capitals Women will defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore Women.
