In their previous game, Ansh Tondon produced a stunning 85 off 34 balls to power Gulf to 210 in the first innings, while Sagar Kalyan added a valuable half-century. The opening pair put together 115 runs, the highest opening partnership of the competition. After the match ended in a tie, Gulf held their nerve in the Super Over to secure their second win of the tournament.

Earlier, Gulf Giants Development recorded a dominant victory over Dubai Capitals. They restricted Dubai to 138 on a good batting surface before completing the chase in just 10.5 overs. Sagar Kalyan struck a 29-ball half-century, while Ansh Tondon and Junaid Shamsudheen scored 42 each at strike rates above 200. The emphatic win also gave Gulf a significant boost in net run rate and moved them to the top of the table.

Sagar Kalyan, who scored 230 runs last season, has continued his strong form with back-to-back half-centuries. Ansh Tondon has contributed 127 runs in two innings, including a half-century. With the ball, Muhammad Zuhaib Zubair has taken four wickets in two matches, while Haider Razzaq remains a key threat after finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the 2025 edition with 16 wickets. Junaid Shamsudheen adds balance to the side with his all-round ability, having scored 42 runs and taken a wicket in the previous game.

Desert Vipers Development head into their next contest looking to bounce back after a narrow defeat against the defending champions. The runners-up from the previous edition fought hard to defend a modest total of 155, but Sharjah Warriorz eventually chased it down with eight balls to spare. The Vipers had reduced Sharjah to 136/8, leaving the Warriorz needing 20 runs from the final 17 deliveries, but the target was reached to hand Desert their first defeat of the season. It was also their third consecutive loss against Sharjah Warriorz.

Earlier in the tournament, Desert Vipers Development began their campaign with a four-wicket victory over MI Emirates. After restricting MI Emirates to 170, Desert chased down the target in the final over, completing what remains the highest successful run chase of the competition. In another closely fought encounter, Abu Dhabi almost chased down 211, but the match ultimately ended in a tie.

Their bowling attack has been among the standout features of the campaign. Hilal Afghan claimed a four-wicket haul, while Wali Muhammad Afridi picked up three wickets in the victory. With the bat, Taimoor Ali played a key role, smashing 44 off just 24 deliveries during the chase.

Sanjay Pahal will be one to watch as the tournament progresses. The Player of the Tournament in the previous edition contributed 157 runs and 12 wickets, although he is yet to reproduce that form this season. Taimoor Ali has emerged as Desert's leading run-scorer so far, with 62 runs from two innings.
