In Group C, second-placed Gujarat will take on table-toppers Punjab at the Gymkhana Ground, Hyderabad, on 08 December, with the match starting at 1:30 PM. The high-stakes clash will determine the team that secures direct qualification to the quarter-finals. Both sides are locked on 16 points from six matches, with Punjab leading the table solely based on a superior net run rate.
Gujarat have firmly established their position in Group C with four wins from six matches. It will be a do-or-die encounter for Gujarat. After narrowly missing out on the quarter-finals last season despite winning six consecutive group-stage matches, they will be desperate to avoid another heartbreaking exit. Rishi Patel is set to open the innings alongside wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel. In his only appearance so far, Rishi scored 18 off 10 balls. Urvil Patel has been Gujarat’s standout performer with the bat, leading the run charts with 195 runs at a staggering strike rate of 263.51. He has smashed 18 sixes—one more than his tally of fours—and will once again be the batter to watch. Japagnya Bhatt is expected to slot in at number three. Although Bhatt has managed only 23 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 121, he has made a valuable impact with the ball, picking up five wickets at an economy of 7.66.
Aarya Desai will anchor the middle order alongside Saurav Chauhan and Vishal Jayswal. Desai has been in splendid form, amassing 335 runs in his last 10 T20 matches at a strike rate of 137.86. He has continued that momentum this season as well, scoring 187 runs in six games, including two half-centuries. Saurav Chauhan has been reliable in the middle, scoring 136 runs in five innings at an impressive average of 45.33. Vishal Jayswal, however, has struggled to make an impact with the bat, managing just 77 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 124.09. That said, he has contributed with the ball, picking up three wickets at an excellent economy of 6.84—the best among the Gujarat bowlers.
Ravi Bishnoi will lead the Gujarat bowling attack, with strong support from Arzan Nagwaswalla, Harshal Patel, and Hemang Patel. Bishnoi has been impressive this season, picking up eight wickets at an economy of 8.67. Nagwaswalla has been their most effective bowler so far, leading the wickets chart with nine scalps at an economy of 7.74, and he will be the bowler to watch out for. Harshal Patel has chipped in with eight wickets in just four matches, while Hemang Patel has claimed seven wickets across six games.

The weather in Hyderabad is expected to be cloudy on match day, with temperatures ranging from 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. Winds will blow from the southeast at 6-10 km/h. It is a balanced pitch. The stadium traditionally offers favourable conditions for batsmen. Its dry surface, combined with relatively short boundaries, makes it easier for batters to clear the ropes, contributing to high-scoring contests. Length balls can travel the distance quickly, putting bowlers under pressure from the start. As the match progresses, spinners do come into play with some turn and assistance on offer, but overall, it remains a venue where stroke-making and aggressive batting thrive.
The game will be played at the Gymkhana Ground, Hyderabad, on 08 December, with the match starting at 1:30 PM. The stadium has a capacity of 5000 spectators. The stadium has hosted 1 ODI and 12 T20 games this season.
In the 12 games played here this season, teams chasing or defending the target have won the games on 6 occasions each. The team winning the toss should bowl first. The average first innings score is 230.
Abhishek Sharma is the third leading run-scorer of the tournament with 26 sixes. Punjab’s batting lineup is so destructive that all seven batters have a strike rate of 164 or above with a collective strike rate of 191. They have hit 85 sixes - most by any team. In 6 games, they have crossed the 200 figure thrice and the 300 figure once. It looks like Gujarat bowlers are going to get some hitting from the other end.
We predict that Punjab will win against Gujarat.
