Haryana won 3 matches in a row before suffering their first defeat of the season in the last game in Rohtak against Uttarakhand. The poor batting returns finally caught up to them as they were bowled out for under 150 runs in both innings of their recent Test.
Services also started their campaign with consecutive wins in their first two matches, but lost steam thereafter. Much like Haryana, bowling was the driving force behind their early wins. The bowlers continued delivering quality spells in later games, too, but the poor batting form cost them two games in a row.
Haryana skipper Ankit Kumar opens the innings for the side, and has failed to get off to a decent start in his last three outings. In their win over Gujarat, Haryana lost 6 wickets on the way to a 62-run target.
There haven’t been any big performances from their key players in the middle order, and that is something Kumar will hope to address in this game.
Services too need a strong batting comeback from their key players like Mohit Ahlawat and Ravi Chauhan in the middle order.

Despite 3 consecutive wins to kick off their 2025-26 Ranji Trophy Elite campaign, Haryana’s batting concerns were mounting. They eventually caught up with them as they suffered a huge defeat in their 4th match of the season.
They were bowled out for 112 runs batting first against Uttarakhand and managed to score just 148 runs in the second innings. This was by far their worst batting performance this season.
Previously, in their match against Tripura, at the same venue in Rohtak, Haryana, they were bowled out for 158 runs after restricting the opposition to 128 runs bowling first.
Lakshya Dalal and skipper Ankit Kumar must find a way to bounce back with strong performances at the top of the order. The two openers need to deliver a partnership that sets the tone for the innings.
Yuvraj Singh had replaced Dalal in the last game and looked quite promising. We reckon Haryana will continue with Singh in this match too. Mayank Shandilya and Nishant Sindhu are the key middle-order players in this lineup.
Though there is depth in the lineup with Parth Vats and wicket-keeper Yashvardhan Dalal in the lower middle order, delivering some handy knocks in recent games, a lot depends on the top 4 of this batting order.
In the bowling attack, Nikhil Kashyap leads the wicket-taking charts for Haryana. He will be supported by Parth Vats and Nishant Sindhu, who have been quite consistent with their performances and strengthen Haryana’s overall bowling strength.

Services will be eager to get back to winning ways and avoid a hat-trick of losses. Much like the opposition, they have struggled with the bat in recent matches. Their bowling has been exceptional, and will be their biggest strength going into this match.
However, skipper Rajat Paliwal will be expecting his key players in the batting lineup to make a strong comeback in Rohtak. It is not a very batting-friendly wicket on this ground, and Services will face a tough challenge against a strong, in-form bowling attack of Haryana.
Opening batter Shivam Kumar has a key role to play at the top, while Mohit Ahlawat and Ravi Chauhan are the promising players in the middle. Ahlawat has scored two fifties in the last two matches, while Ravi Chauhan was part of a crucial 3rd wicket stand with Ahlawat in a recent game.
Their loss against Uttarakhan will hurt them the most. They bowled out the opposition for 88 runs in the second innings and still suffered a 17-run defeat. The lower middle order of Rajat Paliwal, Irfan Ali, and Nakul Sharma has failed to make any impact whatsoever.
The bowlers will be the ones to watch out for in this game. Services will rely on them to get the upper hand in this contest. Right-arm offbreak Pulkit Narang and left-arm orthodox Amit Shukla will be the key players in the spin-bowling department for Services.
Arjun Sharma is another left-arm orthodox bowler who’s been brilliant in their recent outings and has delivered consistent breakthroughs. He picked up 10 wickets in their recent defeat against Uttarakhand, which included a 6-fer in the second innings.
Vikas Yadav is another spin-bowling option in this squad. Services are quite spin-heavy, and that will work quite well in their favor on this pitch.
Shivam Kumar, Devender Lochab (wk), Mohit Ahlawat, Ravi Chauhan, Rajat Paliwal (c), Irfan Ali, Nakul Sharma, Arjun Sharma, Pulkit Narang, Amarjeet Singh, Amit Shukla

It will be clear and sunny in Rohtak on almost all four days of the Test with a high of 25 degrees Celsius. There might be a few clouds on Day 3, but nothing that will interrupt the flow of the match by bringing any rain or thunderstorm.
It is a bowling-friendly wicket with plenty of help for the bowlers. It is going to be a tough challenge for the batters to put on a big total on this wicket. The Ch Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium has been a low-scoring venue this season, with the average first innings score of 119 runs. If the team batting first can cross the 250-run mark in the first innings, they will be in a strong position to win the match from there.
There have been only two matches on this ground, and both went in favor of the team bowling first. In the recent match here, Uttarakhand, after being put to bowl first, won the game by an innings and 28 runs. Both teams have a strong bowling attack and will back themselves to bowl first and get an upper hand in the game.
Toss will play a key role, and the team that bowls first will have a slight advantage in this match. However, considering the current form and struggles of both teams, it seems like a close contest. Haryana have a slightly better overall squad with a brilliant bowling attack and hence, will have a slight edge going into this match.
