The countdown has begun for the most-awaited game of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. After handing three defeats to the male team in the Asia Cup, now it's time for the Women to face the neighbours. India Women will play against Pakistan Women at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on 5th October from 3:00 pm onwards. The India Women’s cricket team has a perfect record against Pakistan Women, winning all eleven of their encounters so far.

India Women began their World Cup 2025 campaign with a commanding 59-run win (DLS method) over Sri Lanka. Despite a shaky middle-order collapse, Deepti Sharma (53 & 3/54) and Amanjot Kaur (57) rescued the innings with a match-defining 103-run stand for the seventh wicket. Sneh Rana’s late fireworks (28 off 15) powered India to 269/8 in 47 overs. With the ball, the all-rounders shone again — Deepti, Amanjot, Rana, Kranti Goud, and Shree Charani all chipping in with wickets. India’s bowlers kept Sri Lanka in check after dismissing Athapaththu for 43. The defending total highlighted India’s depth in all-rounders, ensuring a strong start to their World Cup journey.

Pakistan Women endured another disappointing outing in the Women’s World Cup, bowled out for just 129 runs against Bangladesh. Despite winning the toss and opting to bat, only Rameen Shamim and Fatima Sana crossed 20 as partnerships failed to build. The innings was rocked early by Marufa Akter’s double strike in the first over, and Pakistan’s batters struggled against Bangladesh’s legspin trio, with Shorna Akter returning 3/5. With the ball, Diana Baig (1/14) and Fatima Sana tried hard, keeping things tight in the power play and picking early wickets. However, a modest total left little margin, and Pakistan could not prevent Bangladesh from cruising home. The result continues their poor record in World Cups — only one win in their last 22 matches.

Both teams last met in the World Cup of 2022, where India Women once again extended their dominance over Pakistan Women with a commanding win. Batting first, India slipped to 114 for 6 before Smriti Mandhana’s 52 and a record seventh-wicket stand of 122 between Pooja Vastrakar (67) and Sneh Rana (53*) lifted them to 244. Pakistan's women’s bowlers kept the pressure early, but a late counterattack shifted the momentum. In reply, Pakistan faltered against India’s disciplined bowling attack, with Rajeshwari Gayakwad picking 4 for 31 and Jhulan Goswami 2 for 26, while debutant keeper Richa Ghosh effected five dismissals. Pakistan was bowled out for 137, handing India a 107-run victory. This win stretched India Women’s record against Pakistan Women in ODIs to 11-0.

Weather Conditions

The weather in New Delhi is expected to be cloudy on match day, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius. Winds will blow from the southeast at 12-16 km/h. It will have 73% humidity. At R. Premadasa Stadium, the pitch usually starts off true, giving batters a chance to score freely in the early overs with its steady bounce. As the game wears on, though, the surface tends to lose pace, offering more grip and variable bounce that brings spinners into play. Teams with strong spin options and batters comfortable against slow bowling generally hold the edge in the latter stages. For quicks, the best opportunity comes up front with the new ball—they need to strike early before the pitch settles into its slower, spin-friendly nature.
