After more than 100 matches and over 5 months of exhilarating red-ball cricket action, it's down to the final two, Karnataka and Jammu & Kashmir, to decide the Ranji Trophy 2025-2026 season champions.
Both sides did fairly well in the Elite Group stage. While Karnataka were one of the pre-season favourites to win the competition, Jammu Kashmir punched above their heights to reach the Ranji Final for the first time.
The last time Karnataka and Jammu & Kashmir played at KSCA Hubli Ground was in 2015, which Karnataka won by an innings and 30 runs

Jammu & Kashmir have had a dream run in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, reaching their first-ever final. No one expected them to go this deep, but they have proved everyone wrong with grit, teamwork, and some standout performances.
The middle order has been the real backbone of the side. Abdul Samad is the top run scorer for Jammu and Kashmir with 655 runs in 13 innings at an average of 59.55. He’s been incredibly consistent; even though he has scored only one century, he has also scored four fifty-plus knocks.
Captain Paras Dogra (551 runs) and all-rounder Abid Mushtaq (417 runs) have stepped up big time whenever the top order struggled, providing stability and momentum. At the top, Shubham Khajuria (369 runs in 14 innings) and Qamran Iqbal (305 runs in 8 innings) have had their share of good starts and match-momentum knocks.
Auqib Nabi has been the star all-rounder for his side. He has scored 243 runs with the bat in 11 innings and is the 2nd top wicket-taker of the tournament with 56 wickets with the ball. His contributions have been massive in both departments.
The bowling attack is well-balanced; left-arm pacer Sunil Kumar has taken 29 wickets, and Abid Mushtaq (20 wickets) and Vanshaj Sharma (13 wickets) are impactful in the crucial phase of the game, not allowing the opposition batters to settle. Yudvir Singh, meanwhile, has taken 19 wickets in 11 innings alongside the likes of Sunil Kumar and Kaverappa.

Karnataka, the second-most successful side in Ranji Trophy history with 8 titles, is in superb form under captain Devdutt Padikkal and looks ready to add the ninth title.
They finished second in Elite Group B with 3 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws and 27 points, then delivered in the knockouts, beating Mumbai in a thrilling quarter-final and dominating Uttarakhand in the semi-final to reach the final.
The batting has been full of stars. Smaran Ravichandran has been outstanding, topping the tournament run scoring chart with 950 runs in 13 innings at an average of 95.00, featuring two double centuries early in the season and two centuries in both innings of the semi-final clash vs Uttarakhand.
The openers set a strong platform; Devdutt Padikkal has scored 532 runs, including a massive 232 off 330 balls in the semi-final, while Mayank Agarwal has scored 518 runs.
Karun Nair bounced back strongly after a disappointing return to the Indian team. He has scored 689 runs in 12 innings, and India international KL Rahul returned for the second half to score 457 runs in just 6 innings, including 141 and a fifty vs Uttarakhand in the semi-final.
All-rounder Shreyas Gopal has been a match-winner with bat and ball, as he has scored 443 runs in 15 innings and taken 46 wickets, impacting almost every game.
The pace attack is deep and dangerous, including Vidwath Kaverappa and Shikhar Shetty with 21 wickets each. Vidyadhar Patil (18 wickets) and Mohsin Khan (15 wickets) have stepped up when needed, and Vijaykumar Vyshak and Prasidh Krishna (11 wickets each) bring experience, with Krishna having also represented Team India.

The weather forecast for Hubli and the surrounding area suggests that we should have clear skies for the match. It will be mostly sunny for all four days, and the temperature will be around 33-31°C. There is around a 5% probability of precipitation on days 1 and 3, so rain should not interrupt the game.
The KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground offers a balanced pitch surface for red ball cricket. It offers good pace and bounce early on, helping the fast bowlers early in the game with the new ball. Batters can score runs freely once set. Spin bowlers will come into action after the first 2 days with cracks starting to appear from day 3 onwards.
The captain who wins the toss might prefer to bat first. The pitch surface at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground is at its best during the first two days. So it will be ideal to bat first and score big and later try to win the match bowling in the 2nd and 4th innings. Karnataka did the same against Chandigarh in the only match played at the venue.
Karnataka are clear favourites to lift the Ranji Trophy 2025-26. Their batting is stacked with Smaran Ravichandran (950 runs), Devdutt Padikkal, KL Rahul, and Karun Nair in top form, plus Shreyas Gopal’s shine with 46 wickets and a deep pace attack. Jammu & Kashmir have shocked everyone with their performance, and Auqib Nabi has been brilliant, taking 56 wickets, but Karnataka’s experience of playing at this level and depth should win them the title.
