Karachi Kings will certainly face a stern test when they take on league leaders Multan Sultans in the 19th match of 2020 Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday.

Karachi is coming into this game on the back of consecutive victories against Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. The side seemed to have found their rhythm and will be keen to continue their good form in this contest

On the other hand, Multan Sultans are riding on the batting might of their captain Shan Masood and are on a three-match winning streak. Multan Sultans will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak against Karachi Kings.

Imad Wasim-led unit will need to guard against complacency and maintain their standards in all-important clash against Multan Sultans. The bowlers put in an excellent performance to setup a comfortable win against Peshawar Zalmi.

With conditions conducive to swing bowling, Left-arm quick Mohammad Amir made an immediate impact with the new-ball and dismissed Tom Banton and Haider Ali in the first over of the innings. In his second spell, Amir dismissed Carlos Brathwaite and Lewis Gregory to end up with four wickets to his name.

Playing his first game of the season, medium-pacer Aamir Yamin bowled well and picked up the key wickets of Kamran Akmal to help Karachi take control of the game. England pacer Chris Jordan once again chipped in with another splendid bowling performance and finished with 2 for 33 in his four overs.

Chasing 152 runs for victory, Sharjeel Khan was dismissed by Hasan Ali to see Karachi Kings get off to a shaky start. After registering low scores in the last two matches, Babar Azam found form with the bat and put on a match-winning partnership of 101 runs with Alex Hales.

Babar Azam remained unbeaten till the end and steered his side to a comfortable win over Peshawar Zalmi. He finished the innings with the top-score of 70 not out off 59 balls with the help of 10 boundaries. Besides Azam, Alex Hales continued his excellent form for Kings and smashed 49 runs off 27 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. Wicket-keeper Chadwick Walton also chipped in with 22 runs off 16 balls with the help of four boundaries.

Multan Sultans Preview

Under their new captain Shan Masood, Multan Sultans made a strong statement on Saturday when they humbled defending champions Quetta Gladiators by 30 runs, announcing they are ready to shed the underachiever’s tag they earned last season. In the batting department, the side will be relying on their in-form duo of Rilee Rossouw and captain Shan Masood to produce the bulk of the runs.

In the previous game, Rilee Rossouw was the standout performer with the bat and produced a scintillating century to help Multan Sultans post a formidable total on the board. With his maiden century in PSL, Rossouw has shown excellent form this season and accumulated 189 runs at an average of 63.00.

Besides Rossouw, Shan Masood has been a consistent performer with the bat and scored 174 runs at an average of 34.80.
