Mohali Kings made a sensational start to the Sher-e-Punjab T20 2026 by chasing down a massive 259-run target against Amritsar Soormas, winning by five wickets with three balls to spare. 

In a high-scoring thriller that saw a combined 520 runs being scored, the Kings showed tremendous batting depth and belief under pressure. Anmolpreet Singh produced a match-winning masterpiece, blasting 133 off just 51 balls with 10 fours and 12 sixes at a strike rate of 260.78 to earn Player of the Match honours. 

Captain Ramandeep Singh provided excellent support with an unbeaten 69 off 40 deliveries, while Gurmehar Sra (26 off 12 balls) and Harpreet Brar (23 off 8 balls) contributed useful cameos. 

The bowlers had an uphill task to stop Amritsar batters after they got off to a good start. But the Mohali bowlers bounced back well as they restricted Amritsar for 258 runs. Tejpreet Singh was the top bagsman with 3-fer while Tanmay Dharni and Harpreet Brar both claimed 2 wickets each.

Their marquee signing Gurnoor Brar is expected to miss the early games due to his participation in the Duleep Trophy, placing greater responsibility on the rest of the group as they open their campaign against Mohali Kings.

The side invested wisely at the auction, securing promising batter Harnoor Singh and Mumbai Indians pacer Ashwani Kumar, both of whom will be expected to play key roles for the side. 

Former India Under-19 captain Uday Saharan brings valuable experience and leadership qualities to the batting unit, while Gourav Choudhary, Sumit Sharma and Dev Amritpal Singh add further depth.
