We are in the most important phase of the Indian Premier League 2022 and the 56th game of the tournament would see the Mumbai Indians take on the Kolkata Knight Riders. It will be an important game for KKR to keep its hopes alive for a berth in the next round after their loss against the Lucknow Super Giants. The Mumbai Indians come here with a win against Gujarat Titans, but it has been a little too late for the side.
Mumbai Indians have won just two games but have shown grit and determination in the last two matches they have played. They have enjoyed an excellent record against Knight Riders in the past and will look to take inspiration from their earlier wins. KKR come here after a massive loss, and they would be under pressure, and it remains to be seen how they perform here.
It has been too little too late for Rohit Sharma’s side. They come here with back-to-back wins but are already out of contention for a place in the next round. It was a good show by the side against the Gujarat Titans where they held onto their nerves in the final overs and snatched a 5-run win. They had lost against KKR earlier and Sharma would look for a better show in this game.
Openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan did well in the last game which is a huge relief for the side as their lack of form have been one of the reasons behind the side’s failure. Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Kieron Pollard will gave to do well in the middle order. Tim David played a cameo in the last game and he adds to the batting firepower along with Daniel Sams.
Daniel Sams bowled brilliantly in the last game, and he will look to get early wickets with Jasprit Bumrah. Murugan Ashwin looked good, and the side would like to see more of such good spells from him and Riley Meredith. Kumar Kartikeya and Pollard shall need to do well in the supporting role as the KKR have a strong batting line-up.

Top Bowler – Jasprit Bumrah

Shreyas Iyer’s side suffered a major drubbing at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants in the last game. The batting collapsed like a pack of cards and folded up for 101 runs losing the game by 75 runs. They are 8th on the points table and shall be aiming for a big win to increase their odds of a place in the next round. Iyer would be aware of Mumbai’s strengths and wouldn’t like to take his opponents lightly.
Baba Indrajith and Aaron Finch shall have to start well in this game as KKR has struggled to find the perfect opening pair this season. Shreyas Iyer has also been inconsistent, and he has to anchor the innings in the middle order with Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are doing well down the order, and this will add to the side’s confidence heading into this must-win game.
Umesh Yadav is likely to make a comeback here and this would make the bowling strong as he opens with Tim Southee. Narine has been the best bowler for the side, and he will have to keep things under check in the middle overs. Russell has also been in good form and the side would need him to be at his best along with Anukul Roy and Harshit Rana.

We expect to see a warm and humid evening in Mumbai on May 9. The wicket has been flat and allowed batsmen to play their strokes without any hesitation. Bowlers especially fast bowlers have struggled on this surface and the side batting first would need to cross the 180-run mark to feel safe.
Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy is one of the best batting surfaces in India. The ball comes onto the bat nicely and the fast outfield offers plenty of scoring opportunities to the batsmen. Fast bowlers have struggled at this venue as the wicket has little on offer for them. Spinners do well as the ball turns sharply on this track.
In the last five games played here the side chasing the score has gone on to win four of them. The wicket is good for chasing big scores and sides have always struggled to put up a winning score at this venue. The side winning the toss would have no hesitation in bowling first.
Kolkata Knight Riders would face the heat as they go into this game. A loss would end all their hopes of making it to the next round. Their players have been inconsistent, and the side would need a complete team effort to win this game. The Mumbai Indians have shown their strength in the last two games and the side would be able to play freely. This would offer them a slight edge over KKR.
