MI London Preview

MI London are coming on the back off a seven-wicket defeat against London Spirit in their last outing at The Kia Oval, which is also their second loss in the last matches.

MI London's batting innings began on a strong note after being put in to bat, posting a competitive total of 164/5 in their 100 balls. Opening the batting, Will Jacks led from the front with a top score of 65 off 44 balls, smashing 8 fours and 2 sixes

He built a solid platform alongside captain James Vince, who added a quickfire 26 off 20 balls. Although Nicholas Pooran fell cheaply for just 3 runs, Sherfane Rutherford provided late acceleration with a blistering 41 off 19 balls, hitting 4 sixes. Useful late contributions from Jason Roy (13) and Tom Curran (9*) helped push the team to a strong total.

MI London's bowling attack struggled to defend the total, the London Spirit chased down the target in 89 balls. Olly Stone provided the opening breakthrough by dismissing Jonny Bairstow, but he proved expensive, conceding 39 runs from his 15 balls.

Trent Boult took the key wicket of top-scorer Lhuan-dre Pretorius, finishing with figures of 1/35 in 19 balls, while Richard Gleeson was the most effective pacer with 1 for 23 off 15 balls. Spin superstar Rashid Khan bowled economically, giving away only 20 runs from his 20 balls without taking a wicket, but expensive spells from Tom Curran (31 runs from 15 balls) and Will Jacks ultimately meant MI London could not contain the chase.

MI London's strength this season has been chasing and both of their wins have come while bowling first. Their bowlers have done a really good while bowling first this season picking up 24 wickets in 3 matches, led by Richard Gleeson with 8 wickets and Trent Boult with 5 wickets. In the batting department Will Jacks tops the charts with 133 runs, while other batters have struggled a bit over the last two matches.

Manchester Super Giants Preview

After winning the first two matches of the season, the Manchester Super Giants lost two in a row with their latest loss coming against the Trent Rockets by 6 wickets at Old Trafford. Batting first, Manchester posted 137 for 3 in 100 balls.

Captain Aiden Markram scored 28, while Tim Seifert added 12 before both fell alongside Heinrich Klaasen who was dismissed for a duck in quick succession. Jos Buttler anchored the innings with a brilliant, unbeaten 55 off 37 balls, teaming up with Leus du Plooy (40* off 28) for an unbroken 81-run partnership to rebuild the total.

Defending 137, Manchester's bowling attack made an early impact when Gus Atkinson (2/27) removed Ben Duckett for a duck on the second ball. Sonny Baker also chipped in with 2 for 31. However, they could not stem the flow of runs against Finn Allen, who struck an unbeaten 72. Josh Tongue, Liam Dawson, and Noor Ahmad went wicketless as the Rockets comfortably chased down 140 with 13 balls to spare.

The Super Giants have a quick turnaround as they take on the MI London on Sunday at the Kia Oval, the Giants recent struggles have largely been because of their poor batting in the middle order.

Heinrich Klaasen hasn't fired as expected managing to score 90 runs in 4 matches, while Jos Buttler has scored the most runs for his side (224 runs in 4 matches). If the Giants middle order can fire collectively then they will have a really good chance of winning the match against the strong MI London bowling attack.

Manchester Super Giants Predicted Playing XI:

Aiden Markram (c), Tim Seifert, Jos Buttler (wk), Heinrich Klaasen, Leus du Plooy, Tom Moores, Liam Dawson, Gus Atkinson, Noor Ahmad, Josh Tongue, Sonny Baker
